I don't know what exactly you all should know about Jakob and me other than the simple fact that I love this man with every single part of my being, with all of the love God gives me. This story we've written together (that God was written for us) has been so wonderfully wild, and I can hardly wait to share the rest of our lives together.
But if you must know more...
Once upon a time, not so long ago, one fall evening, not so far away... just as the trees were beginning to fade into various shades of warmth, as the seasons started to slow, and as she began to find beauty in the stillness, a peculiar girl suddenly found herself face to face with a certain boy who somehow, deep within, she knew would become her everything.
It only took one short weekend with their friends at Zion National Park for this peculiar girl, we'll call her Khandis, to discover there was something about that certain boy named Jakob that she was inexplicably drawn to. She found herself looking for him in the crowds, and to her delight, he found himself unconsciously sitting beside her at every bonfire, completely comfortable in one another's presence.
Khandis went home smiling at the very thought of him. He went home entirely oblivious. That is, until a letter arrived in the mail with his name in big and pretty cursive letters.
She did the only thing a girl smitten by a clueless boy could do: send him a handwritten letter. Four pages. Front and back. What on earth did she ramble on about for four pages, you might ask? Well, that's between them. But it's safe to say he fell for it and fell for her... hard. He wrote her back. Then waited and she wrote again. And on it went. They were in love before either of them had any idea of it.
It's nearly impossible to convey in words the vibrancy of the love the two found between them. Neither one could have dreamed up such a love story. There is only one explanation for magic of this kind- there is a God. He's quite the storyteller. He is Wonderful and Wise and a father who loves His children. And so with every breath spent saying "I love you," they'll praise their Lord... for all eternity.
The Lord is my Shepherd.
I shall not lack.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
...
Surely, goodness and mercy have been mine all the days of my life.
