We met on “accident” as Kia says. In reality, it was probably fate. After a move to LA fell apart at the last minute, Kia felt unsure of her next steps. Not two weeks later, she met John.

Our first date was classic — dinner and a movie. John had never seen the remake of IT: Chapter One and asked Kia to hold his hand during the scary parts since she had seen it before. After the movie, we spent time chatting at the mall, getting to know each other. After parting, Kia immediately went to meet up with some friends. To this day, they maintain that when asked how the date went, Kia said, “eh, it was okay I guess.” She doesn’t recall.

After date three (a hipster screening of Evil Dead: Army of Darkness), we realized we were two weird birds of a feather and started to become attached at the hip. We think that this date was probably when we fell in love, but it was only three dates in, so no one said anything because that would've been weird. After that night, we saw each other as often as possible.

Just a few months later, the world shut down. Our only option was to spend 24/7 together. It was evident that this was extremely easy and we might as well just be together forever. Less than six months in, we knew we had found our person.

Since 2019, we have survived a pandemic, bought cars, moved way too many times, made a home in LA, lost jobs, made music, traveled to Europe, partied a lot, and above all — had fun every single day. We look forward to so many more memories over this lifetime and the next ❤️
