Our Story

Kiana and Kyle's journey began at the University of Wyoming, where they both competed as sprinters on the swim team. Spending around 20 hours a week training together, they developed a close connection, frequently hanging out in Laramie at friends' houses, Washington Park, Happy Jack recreation area, or their favorite bar, O'dwyers. Their shared love for adventure and the outdoors often took them to the Snowy Mountain Range on the weekends. Even during the pandemic, their passion for nature persisted, leading them to numerous socially-distanced adventures with friends. When Kyle decided to propose, he chose to craft Kiana’s ring with his own two hands. Disguising his trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a work visit to his Chicago office, he spent a day at a forgery creating a unique ring for Kiana. In October 2024, Kiana reciprocated by secretly crafting Kyle's ring at a forgery in Salida, Colorado. Both rings, made from Damascus steel, symbolize their shared adventures and the countless journeys yet to come.

Eric is a close friend and college teammate of both Kiana and Kyle. Eric is a thoughtful speaker and the Bride and Groom are very excited to have him officiate their wedding!

Brandon is a long-time friend of the groom. Brandon and Kyle grew up swimming together from elementary through high school. Loves a good LOTR marathon!

Rachel and Kiana met through swimming at the University of Wyoming, but Rachel is also a long-time friend of the White family! She even took swim lessons from Kyle's mom a long, long time ago.

Thomas is a long-time friend of the Groom. Thomas, Brandon and Kyle all swam together through high school. He loves a good Elk hunting trip!

Starting as rivals from Cheyenne and Laramie, Slade and the Groom grew to be good friends and even roommates more than once while they swam together in college.

Katelyn and Kiana met through swimming at the University of Wyoming and were roommates for two years. They share a love of the Great British Baking Show, raccoons, and Post Malone!

Patrick is a friend and fellow adventure partner of the Bride and Groom. Pat and Kyle were roommates and teammates in Laramie. Pat introduced the Bride and Groom to their love of the river and the people who float it with them.

Buena Vista is a small town, so there are lots of small inns and bed &amp; breakfasts to stay at! AirBnb is typically the most affordable accommodation, closely followed by the Hampton Inn &amp; Suites in Salida, CO — a quick 30 minute drive from the venue along the Arkansas River.

Please follow the provided link below to book in our room block, or call the hotel and give them the above code. This option is the most affordable, and about a 30-minute drive from the venue!

Hampton Inn & Suites Salida

This upscale hotel is located right by the Arkansas River in town. There is no room block here, although it is a great option for those who want to stay closer (~7 minutes) to the venue!

Surf Hotel & Residences

This resort offers hot springs amenities, river and mountain views, and is about 15 minutes from the venue! There is no room block at this option. 

Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort

BV Overlook offers tiny homes, cabins, tent camping and RV camping with beautiful views of the collegiate peaks! And they're dog friendly! They also offer AAA, AARP, Good Sam, military, first responder, and educator discounts.

This accommodation is close to the venue (~7 minutes) and offers variable rates throughout the Summer. There is no room block at this accommodation.

Best Western Vista Inn

Denver International Airport is the easiest and most accessible flight option. The airport is around two and a half hours from the venue.

The Bustang is a regional transport bus that operates from Union Station in Denver, CO to Buena Vista, CO. The travel time is around three hours on the Crested Butte - Denver Southwest route. Cost is around $24.

Things to Do

Buena Vista and the surrounding areas are filled with many local shops, great restaurants, and more! The outdoors are the main industry here and you'll find many ways to get outside in the Arkansas River Valley!

Buena Vista is known for its whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River! Many companies are available for shorter and longer guided trips.

Buena Vista boasts lots of trails in town and several access points to the Collegiate Peaks 14ers!

As part of Buena Vista's trail systems, you can also cycle and mountain bike most of the town. Check out the stores downtown for mountain and e-bike rentals!

The Arkansas river hosts a variety of trout species to catch and release. Check out the local guides in town for more information!

Buena Vista has a few hot springs to visit. Cottonwood Hot Springs is close to town and the venue!
