Like most millennials, we met on social media (shocker lol!). During the pandemic, God called people to community, and through that, a Facebook group called Young Black and Christian was created. With churches shut down, many looked to this group and found what they needed to get through that time.
Our paths first crossed in 2023. In March, Darnell saw a post with a beautiful face and knew he had to talk to me. During a game in May, he reached out, and things progressed quickly. We began dating that same month, and by the next month. The first time we met, we were both extremely nervous, but by the end of the weekend, we knew we had found something special.
Our love story was long-distance at first due to travel nursing and being stationed in South Carolina and then California. Finally, in October 2024, we were able to join together when a travel opportunity in San Diego opened up! We were finally able to spend time together regularly, enjoy holidays together, and it was everything we had imagined it would be. While in South Carolina for Darnell's ordination, he popped the question on a Sunday July 21st, 2025 as church was ending. It was a complete shock and we were so excited to begin planning our forever. Forever began on August 15th, 2025, as we decided to wed, in a civil ceremony with the bride's sister DeNika in attendance.
We now look forward to sharing all of our joy with all of you!
