I'm not writing this because she made me, but because I have impeccable story telling skills. Dope stories for days. Anyways, I always remember seeing Kiarra on campus but I never really spoke. I was really focused on academics and trying to jump start my rap career. There was one night that I decided to break the mold and go to a party. Entering the party, I hugged this beautiful girl with big cat eyes and a smile that was just for me. I'm not sure why I didn't remember seeing her before. I knew that I would confront her again before the night was over. Being a typical college party, a few fights ensued after we arrived. Kiarra was defending a friend and got riled up, but no blows were thrown. Another guy was mouthing off to me and I had to be dragged away (we all know he didn't want these Floyd Mayweathers). Being up late that night, I wondered how that vivacious girl I met fared after the night's end. Since I didn't have her number, I had to prepare myself to slide into her DMs (Editor's note* a DM is a Direct Message that is used to communicate to another individual on social media). Kiarra ended up at IHOP and was thinking about bringing me pancakes. In my mind I thought, is this girl great or what??!?! I never did get my pancakes, but it was the thought that counted.
We continued messaging until we exchanged numbers. I didn't know what was going to come of it, but I liked the girl. We started to go out here and there, enjoying each others company while thinking about our lives after college. She was from D.C. while I was from Durham *throws up Bull City*. There was the infamous late night drive in which I asked Kiarra to be my girlfriend. She was quite skeptical due to the fact that school was almost over and we were going our separate ways for the summer. After some deliberation she said yes, THANK YOU :) , and we began working to build a strong foundation and future.
In the summer of 2014, I knew I was ready, but I just had to figure out how to ask her. One day when I was going to pick out the ring, I told her I was going to help some friends move. Immediately she sensed something wrong but I needed to go ahead and get this ring! I had it all planned out to go to the Arboretum. When I got home Kiarra wouldn't even talk to me lol. She was just mad, wouldn't let me even take her to the Arboretum. At that moment I became overwhelmed with emotions and just went for it. I told her how special she was to me, how life was great with her, how I was so excited to see the path God had waiting for us, and much more. She was sooooo happy and surprised, I still see the image in my mind. We then decided to do it all over again at the Arboretum :) .
