Our love story

Picture of Our love story

It all started with a follow, a like, and a perfectly timed DM. Michael had just posted a photo, and I liked it within minutes—clearly making the first move (even if he claims it was mutual). Next thing I knew, he slid into my DMs, and we haven’t stopped talking since.

We found out he and my brother shared a mutual friend, which made things feel even more meant to be. After lots of chatting, we finally met in person on November 16, 2018—and the connection was instant. Our first date was at Steak ’n Shake, where we sat for hours just talking about everything. There was no awkward small talk, no nerves—just laughter, conversation, and that feeling of this is something special.

Michael said “I love you” for the first time at midnight on January 1, 2019, right after the ball dropped—a perfect, unforgettable start to the new year.

Over the years, we’ve made so many memories that feel like little pieces of magic. Some of our favorite times are spent up north, laughing until our stomachs hurt, soaking in the peace of nature, hunting for Petoskey stones, listening to music in the truck, or even doing spontaneous things like getting our noses pierced together.
Whether we’re curled up on the couch with our pup or exploring nature being together just feels like home.

After seven years together, Michael proposed on August 21, 2024, at one of our favorite places—Sunset Park in Petoskey. We had visited the beautiful waterfall there the year before and wanted to go back. While we were taking pictures, Michael suggested we climb to the top of the falls for a better view. The path was steep and narrow but short, and a kid kept running up and down beside us—definitely keeping things exciting! Once we made it to the top and took a few photos, I turned around and there he was—nervous smile and all—down on one knee. The only words he could get out were, “Will you marry me?” Of course, I said yes. (And we made it down safely, despite the wild child sprinting by—barely!)

Now, we’re soaking in the joy of this next chapter—snuggled up on the couch with our pup, dreaming of our future together and forever grateful that a simple Instagram like led to a lifetime of love.
