We met during the Summer of 2021. I worked full time during the week but to help make ends meet I decided to take on a second job. I started cleaning condos in Orange Beach on the weekends where Blake just so happened to be an Inspector in the Housekeeping department.
Side Note: Blake's mom was the Director of Housekeeping at the time and he apparently told her that he was going to marry me one day. I don't think Blake and I had even had a conversation yet at that point. She was just like yeah, whatever.
I had been working there for a little while and sometimes Blake would inspect my units after I cleaned them. One day after I finished cleaning I was waiting for him to complete his walk through. When he said everything looked good I gathered my things and walked out to the elevators. I was waiting for the doors to open when he came running back out of the unit and stopped me. His exact words were "I think you're cute as a button" and asked if I wanted to go out sometime. Mind you, I had been single for almost 4 years so I told him I had to think about it. About a week later I get this text message from Blake that said "Are you ready for that date yet"? Obviously I said yes. He lived in Foley and I lived in Pensacola so he came to my house a lot in the beginning. He had kids at home and apparently told them he had to make sure I wasn't crazy before introducing us. Derek was 15, Kamelle was 12 and Jaxtyn was 2. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little intimidated by this but after meeting them I fell in love instantly. I saw how involved Blake was in their lives and how much he loved being a Dad. They were and still are his number one priority and I've never been so okay with anything in my life.
Fast forward a year and half we decided to move in together. It was easier for me to pick up and leave than him so off to Foley I went. The kids took me moving in well and it instantly felt like a family.
On January 21, 2025 we a had a once in a lifetime snow storm here on the Gulf Coast. I didn't know it at the time but Blake had already bought me a ring (and asked my parents for permission). He was just waiting on the best time to pop the question. It was the PERFECT DAY! We had been outside playing in the snow with the kids all morning. I had to run inside and warm up for a few minutes but then Kamelle was yelling at me to come back outside. I thought they wanted to show me a snowman or something. I didn't see anything at first so they all started pointing to the ground. I looked down and saw WILL YOU MARRY ME written in the snow. I gasped then turned around to find Blake on one knee. I was so shocked that I just kept repeating BLAKE ARE YOU SERIOUS?
I could talk about us forever but I have to stop somewhere. We are so thankful for our families and friends and everything they have done to help bring this wedding together. We're so thankful for everyone that will be there to celebrate with us. We appreciate every single one of you.
Love,
Blake and Kim
P.S. For the ones who don't know let me just tell you how much Blake and I are meant to be.
Shortly after we started dating we discovered that our mom's names are Lisa Bowlan and Lisa Bowman. One letter off from each other. Both Maternal Grandmother's names were Judy Hart and Judy Harper.
Crazy, right?!
