Our Story

“The Most Beautiful part is I wasn’t even looking when I found you.”

I suppose this story truly starts on Nov. 2014 when Kyle and Shane pulled into a Mariah Meadows fun show that I was attending. In all honesty, my real attention was on his horse Suzie who made him look like he knew what he was doing :) Just kidding! But really Suzie was the real MVP and was a Jam up Pole bending horse.

Fast-forward a whole year. Nov. 2015 – Again, in pulls the Dodge with the 6-horse trailer, late of course… and out gets Suzie…. I mean Kyle… Shane and now Kaili and the cutest Lab puppy. Now all the attention has shifted to them because not only does Kaili take from the trailer a big beautiful black horse but a puppy too! And who doesn’t love a puppy?! Immediately there is chatter among some of the girls wanting to know who this clan was. This time I was determined to see if I could steal a run on Suzie… This meant trying to sway Kyle. Those who know Kyle know he is not much of a chatterbox and those who know me know that I am! Needless to say he refused but it was worth the try!

Jan. 2016 we ran into each other again for Shawna’s birthday, I continued to pick on him and somehow with all that torment we became Facebook friends.

Sept. 2016 rolls around and it is the annual Cowgirl Couture 3- day weekend barrel race. Honestly, I was so focused on the race I wasn’t aware Kyle and Shane were there until later in the night. This is when I discovered not only was Kyle a barrel racing queen (hahaha!) but he was a roper too! I’m fairly certain he probably heard that I wanted to learn roping about 3 dozen times… and I may have also tried to convince him and Shane to wrestle me… for some reason they were both too afraid, or at least that’s the story I’m going with! This is where the pestering about learning roping began which formed an actual friendship. Over the next few months of downtime riding, we shared the occasional banter and harassment about roping, horse talk and he even let me auction him off! I should probably elaborate on that…

For a couple years in a row I held a Facebook auction one “bachelor” and one “bachelorette” to raise money for end of the year awards for Mariah Meadows show series…. Nothing too crazy, the offers could be either a date or a service (like farrier work) and of course every horse woman goes crazy to get a chance to have their horses feet done and support a good cause so both farriers in the auction went for the highest money! Lucky Kyle! LOL (It was greatly appreciated).

End of April 2017 Kyle and Shane came to the Attica Jackpot run to spectate and that began the 2017 season of racing and was also the start of seeing each other almost every weekend between barrel races, ranch rodeos, trail riding or finding something fun to do and our friendship grew.

That is how Our Story came about… horses and friends brought us together. From the occasional race against each other to random events we were both at formed a friendship, then relationship, engagement and now we’re on to the wedding :)

The title is truly our story. Somehow, our crazy paths in life started slowly putting us together since 2014 and we didn’t even know it. They always say the best things happen when you don't go looking for them, and they sure were right.
