What should I do if I cannot make it?
You will be missed! If you can not make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP “no,” so we can plan accordingly.
What should I wear? Is there a dress code?
Our dress code during the wedding and reception is semi-formal. The bride will be wearing a smokin' hot floor-length dress and the groom will be killin' it in a smoky- blue suit, waistcoat, and tie.
What will the weather be like this time of year?
March in Uruguay can be a little tricky. Remember, Uruguay is still in summer and transitioning to fall. Days are typically in the upper 70s and nights get into the low 60s. We recommend bringing a bathing suit for the beach, a jacket for the nights, and a rain coat for those unexpected early fall showers. Also DO NOT forget your sunscreen. Regardless of how hot or cold it is, we have a hole in our ozone making Montevideo a city where you burn no matter what time of year it is.
Where are the ceremony and reception taking place?
The ceremony and reception will all be at La Toscana.
You can check out the venue at http://www.latoscana.com.uy/
Will the ceremony be indoors or outdoors?
The ceremony will be outdoors at around sunset. The reception is inside with access to outside facilities.
What happens after the ceremony?
Guests will be ushered into the reception area where horderves and cocktails will be served. The wedding party will stay outside to take pictures and will join the celebration afterwards. Dinner will be served around 10:00pm.
What should I know about the culture of Montevideo/Uruguay?
1) Be prepared for a slow pace. Uruguayans enjoy life as much as possible. It is not unusual to see people on the beaches or in the parks sitting with mate (a hot concoction) at all hours of the day. This means that businesses open later and close earlier.
2) Mate is the national drink. You will see it everywhere you go and can carry it with you to all venues. Don't be surprised by the mate drinkers at the wedding. We will have an opportunity for you to taste it at one of our events.
3) Currency is Uruguayan Peso - it is about 40 pesos to 1 dollar.
4) Uruguay is a very open-minded country. It was the first Latin American country to allow women to vote. It has also legalized everything (abortion, gay marriage, marijuana, and prostitution). Most Uruguayans are not religious nor will they like to talk about politics. Their mentality is "we don't care what you do as long a I don't have to do it."
5) Drivers in Uruguay are special. They have very little regard for road rules. You will see several accidents and will probably experience a cab or Uber driver weaving in and out of traffic.
6) Uruguay is a late culture. They eat four meals a day - very light breakfast at around 8 or 9, lunch is big and lengthy around 12 or 1, merienda is an afternoon snack at 6 or 7 and dinner is at 10. Don't expect restaurants to be open before 8. You will also be the only people in the restaurant for hours if you go at 8. Night clubs do not open until midnight or later. Dancing lasts until 6 am.
Are there other wedding events that I can attend?
Yes!! We have an event around Montevideo that you can sign up for throughout the week of the wedding. You can sign up for these on the Things to Do page. You will find the event and cost of the event. All events can be paid for in cash on the day or by transfer at any Abitab. You can also Venmo us and we will pay for you spot.
How do I get to the venue?
There are three ways you can get to the venue:
1) Drive yourself if you have a vehicle. However, we do recommend a designated driver in your vehicle because Uruguay has a zero tolerance policy for alcohol.
2) Uber/Taxi
3)Jump on our rented bus. If you are going to take this option, be sure to sign up on Things to Do so that we know how big of a bus we need to rent.
Are kids welcome?
We want the little ones to celebrate with us! However, we do have a strict RSPV policy. If you are bringing your little ones, please make sure to RSVP the number so that we can make sure to get kids meals prepared.
Can I bring a date?
We have a strict guest list to stay on budget. Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation.
When is the RSVP deadline? Do I need to mail back my RSVP or can I do it online?
The RSVP deadline is December 1, 2022. We prefer that you RSVP through the website. It is very important that we get a head count for our venue 3 months before our event.
Will there be any vegan/vegetarian/gluten free/special diet options?
Yes, there are options for vegetarian/gluten free. Please be sure to indicate your diet restrictions on your RSVP.
Can I take and post pictures of the wedding on social media?
Yes, we encourage guests to post pictures on to their social media channels, our only request is that you tag each photo with our wedding hashtag #kimandnico2023 so we can keep track of all of your pictures!
I still have questions, what is the best way to contact you?
