Our Story

We met in 2003 when swimming for Marist Swim Club. In December 2003, Jonathan's sister and Kim's friend Deanna gave Kim a list of guys asking her which one she had a crush on. Kim admitted to Deanna that it was her brother, Jonathan, and swore her to secrecy. Somehow Jonathan discovered this information, and asked Kim to be his girlfriend outside the Marist College locker rooms a few days later. (Thanks Dee!) We dated for awhile in high school, and stayed friends throughout college and after. In 2012, Kim was visiting Poughkeepsie from Boston and went to meet up with Jonathan, both of his sisters Deanna and Christina, and a couple of his friends at Mahoney's Bar in Poughkeepsie. Christina asked Kim how she felt about Jonathan, and Kim said she could see herself marrying him one day. In short, Christina said that it was insane to not be dating, even if it was long distance. (Thanks Christina!) The following night, Jonathan went to Kim's house, and we decided to date again. Since then, we have been traveling between Boston and NY, Long Island and NYC, and finally have been living together in Scarsdale for a year and a half. In that time, Jonathan got his master's and began teaching high school History and Economics and Kim has been making her way through medical school. We adopted our dog, Ellie, and have grown as a family. We cannot wait to make it official next October!

The Proposal

Kim had to take a board exam outside of Philadelphia, near where Jonathan went to school at Villanova, in March 2016. When Jonathan learned about this, he decided to surprise Kim after her exam outside of one of their favorite restaurants, Teresa's Next Door in Wayne, PA. He convinced Kim to go to the restaurant after the exam by asking her to get him some of their favorite beer, de Garre, to bring home. When Kim arrived, Jonathan was waiting to pop the question.

Directions from our ceremony: Take Rt 82 North to Rt 376 South. Turn onto Route 52 West, take to I-84 West. Take I-84 West to Route 9 South. After 10 miles, The Garrison will be on the right.

Ten minutes from The Garrison - if looking for something to do between our ceremony and the reception, which begins at 5pm, stop by for great beer and appetizers.
