Welcome to our hometown of Richmond, Virginia! Our wedding venue is about 30 minutes outside of the city so if you have the time we highly recommend checking out all that Richmond has to offer. We love this city and we have listed some of our favorite local spots and things to do! Enjoy :)
Some of our favorites include but are definitely not limited to:
Foo Dog: Asian Street food
En Su Boca: Tacos
Shagbark: "Modern approach to up-south cuisine"
Sabai: "Thai Street Favorites"
8 1/2: Pizza
Check out the vast number of breweries Richmond has to offer! Some of our favorites are Hardywood, Three Notch’d, and Stone. For a great view of the city, sit outside on the deck at Legends. Check out the list below for more options!
Richmond has a wide variety of outdoor activities to chose from. You can explore Maymont Park and check out the gardens, mansion, as well as the wildlife. Head down to Tredegar Iron Works and get a great view of the river as well as some of the history of Richmond. While down there check out Brown’s Island and cross over the Potterfield Bridge to the flood wall for a great view of the city!
For you architecture nerds, Richmond is home for a number of prominent architectural landmarks. Tyler personally recommends you check out some of the sites below.
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts
The James W. and Frances G. McGothlin Wing, built in 2010, is one of the more striking modern buildings in the city. If the architecture and sculpture garden doesn't suit you, the vast collection of exhibitions should do the trick.
American Civil War Museum at Historic Tredegar
Situated on the historic site for the Confederacy's artillery manufacturing center, the museum boasts a rich history of groundbreaking exhibitions on a beautiful site, with great views of the city.
Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU
The ICA opened in 2018 as one of the more controversial design projects in the city, which is to be expected for the first Steven Holl building in the area. The exhibits are sure to amuse some of the quirkier guests.
