First and foremost, we owe many thanks to Travis' cousin, Ryan. Ryan and Kim were friends from middle/high school and continued onto college together at Missouri State University. About 4 years ago, Ryan introduced us during a night out in the Central West End. We instantly clicked and have been together ever since.
Our first kiss wasn't at a romantic place or done during a sunset, but it was one of my most memorable moments with Travis. After moving from bar to bar, our group finally settled on ending the evening at The Dubliner on Wash Ave. While standing in line for some drinks at the packed bar, Travis simply gave me a look at went in for the kiss. The bar was super crowded and loud, but based on the butterflies in my stomach, I knew it was a moment I would never forget.
Travis and myself have many friends who are already married. One trend we noticed within a lot of their proposal stories is the girl somehow messes up the planned proposal by getting upset about something silly or wants to do something else other than go to the location in which the guy planned to propose. While listening to these stories, I always remember thinking, "that won't happen to me". Well, it almost did - with a little help from Travis. One Friday night in September, Travis was going to bring dinner home for us to have a night in. On purpose, Travis was late and kept poking fun at me to try and get me in a crabby mood. Thankfully, it didn't work. After dinner, Travis then asked if I wanted to take the dogs on a walk to Turtle Park. While we were admiring the sunset sitting on top of a massive concrete turtle, Travis asked me, "Omg. Did you hear about who got engaged today?" As I started to guess names, he then handed me a small velvet pouch and said, "I can't believe you haven't seen it on Facebook yet! You did. Will you marry me?" I then looked at him and told him how mean he was and how he can't keep "fake proposing" to me. He then told me to look inside the pouch and sure enough, there was a ring. Not just any ring, but the ring I told my friends time and time again that I wanted. After asking Travis about a thousand times if he was serious, I said yes! The dogs started going crazy and almost fell off the turtle. We then walked home (me in shock) and Travis happy because he snagged a babe for his future wife.
