In a time when the world had never felt further apart or isolated, theirs was a love and connection born in a time of great uncertainty, and yet all the same produced a relationship to last a lifetime.
Nicholas Reichert and Kimberly Simmons met and connected online in the heady summer days of 2020. Only a few months had passed since the world was turned upside down and terms like COVID, vaccine, and shutdowns became a part of the lexicon, so the Internet was the only surefire safe way to live life as close to a normal as one could. Little did they know, since that first outdoor date on the afternoon of June 20, 2020, munching on poke bowls outside at Buffalo Bayou Park - the “Golden Hour” light filtering through the breeze - Nick and Kim’s first encounter blossomed into a bond beyond measure.
The two’s fondness and affection grew concurrently with each of their professional careers. Nick is entering his eighth year as a high school social studies teacher, winning two UIL Texas state titles in Social Studies and Current Events. Kim concluded 2 successful years owning a private practice. As their careers flourished, they began sharing each other’s lives.
From summer days at the pool, game nights with friends and loved ones, spur-of-the-moment trips to Disney World, countless hours in the serene darkness of the movie theater, more picnics in parks, trips to bookstores and coffee shops, to Kim’s epicurean tour of every conceivable international cuisine to a sheltered Nick, the couple’s intimacy only grew.
Their ties cemented deeper when they purchased a house together making it a warm and inviting home in October 2021; accompanied by their ever-faithful cats Simba and Nala.
Nick proposed to Kim in marriage at the same spot where they shared their first date just a year-and-a-half earlier on January 16, 2022. Over the course of the following two years, both Nick and Kim’s hearts have grown more deeply intertwined with each passing moment, sharing their lives and loves together.
