Kimi and Charles first met while they were both studying at Virginia Commonwealth University. They had their first date in Cary town and for the next three years they spent almost all their time outside of the classroom and off the soccer field making life an adventure, whether it be going on road trips or checking trotlines on the James River. They both supported each other during this hectic time with Charles attending Kimi’s soccer games and Kimi trusting Charles to be her dentist.

When they both graduated in 2021, Kimi went north to her home of Ohio to get her doctorate of physical therapy and Charles answered the call of duty and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. Over the next three years they endured the distance and on Easter of 2023 Charles would make a surprise visit to Ohio to propose to Kimi. Over the next year and a half Kimi would approach the end of her schooling and Charles would receive orders to Fort Liberty North Carolina.
