Our Story
The day we met
October 31, 2015
Kimmi and Brandon met on Halloween weekend Freshman year at Miami of Ohio! Some meet their significant other in a memorable love at first sight. In their case, it was a simple "Who Dey" that made Kimmi decide to talk to the boy in questionable long hair and his youth XL jersey from 5th grade. All Kimmi could think about was "What is a Who Dey" and "Whose jersey am I wearing again?".

While bridesmaid Kate Houlihan just urged Kimmi to move on to the next boy in a youth XL Bengals jersey.
College
From that point forward, college was full of lots of memories spent together (initially as just friends). There were late nights at Brick and CJ's, long days at King Library, fraternity formals, walks across campus, spring break, and lots in between.

At some point during senior year, Kimmi and Brandon shifted from "just friends" to something more. Although the date they became official is still up for debate, what they do know for certain is they put an "expiration date" on the relationship. With Brandon heading to Seattle after graduation, and Kimmi headed to New York, they thought there was no way there relationship would make it past graduation...
Long Distance
Graduation came (and so did a graduation party. We'll let you ask Sammi what happened that night as she loves to tell the story....) and Kimmi and Brandon headed across the country from each other. They decided to ignore their expiration date, and give really long distance a try. With that came many fun visits to Seattle and New York.
The End of Long Distance

Not everything that came with COVID was bad. In 2021, Kimmi accepted a new job and relocated to Chicago. Not long after, Brandon's job allowed him to work full-time remotely. With that, their long-distance relationship ended, and they both called the Windy City home.

While they'll both wear a cubs hat every once in awhile, you still won't catch them in a Bear's jersey.
And for course, there are plenty of times when they're not in Chicago and instead traveling to new places.
The engagement
July 20, 2023
Brandon and Kimmi flew to Denver to attend a concert for one of their favorite bands, CAAMP, at Red Rocks. Kimmi was not suspicious that something big would happen this weekend considering she bought the concert tickets and booked the flights.

Brandon was insistent that Kimmi wake up the following morning early for a hike outside of Boulder, CO. At this point, Kimmi was still not suspicious that something big would happen because Brandon required a hike on almost all their vacations.

In typical Kimmi fashion, when they reached the top of the hike, she struck up a conversation with strangers, asking them where they were from, what they were doing in Denver, and basically obtained their entire life story. Meanwhile, Brandon was shaking with nerves and holding the ring in his pocket. When the strangers finally left, Brandon yelled, "Ivy, come!" and out ran their dog, sporting a bandana that read, "Will you marry my dad?"

After her confusion wore off (and after Brandon had knelt for at least a minute), Kimmi finally answered with an ecstatic "YES!"

The rest of the weekend was filled with Kimmi learning about all the behind-the-scenes work Brandon had done and how he somehow convinced his brother, Scott, to fly from Dallas to Chicago, pick up Ivy for her first-ever flight, travel to Denver, and hike a mountain—all to pull off the surprise, truly living up to his title of BEST man.
