Schedule of Events

February 1, 2020- John and Kinsey met for their first date at One Well Brewery. Not even a week later, they met up for coffee. Their third date included sushi, and Kinsey thought for sure it would be their last after John talked about how expensive the wine was, and being distracted in conversation, the server returned for the third time to take drink orders, and Kinsey panic-ordered a $12 glass of wine. (Don’t worry, they went to Old Dog Tavern afterward and Kinsey bought all the drinks). A few weeks later, the entire world shut down. COVID-19 was such an unprecedented time, but even so, John and Kinsey spent every weekend together and have been together ever since. October 7, 2023 - After 3 years of dating, John and Kinsey took a trip to Traverse City where John proposed at one of their favorite wineries. With the help of one of the bridesmaids (and SLP colleague of Kinsey), John had the winery print a custom wine tasting menu to include “Will you marry me,” in International Phonetic Alphabet - which is commonly used in the speech-language pathology world. It could not have been more perfect!

John met Harrison and his wife Rhea through Greek life at WMU in 2012. John and Harrison spent countless hours fishing, disc golfing, and playing video games in their twenties. John was the Best Man for Harrison’s wedding in 2017. Harrison’s daughter Maeve will be the flower girl for the wedding.

John met Christopher through Greek life at WMU in 2012. John and Christopher instantly bonded over music, cartoons, and video games.

John met Wilson through Greek life at WMU in 2014 when Wilson transferred to WMU from Kettering University. John and Wilson frequently created fun drinking games out of the the Curling World Championship and played trivia at the local bars in Kalamazoo.

John met Darius through Greek life at WMU in 2012. Darius was one of the first friends John made at WMU. John and Darius have always been close friends throughout college. John was the officiant at Darius’ wedding.

John met Cole through Greek life at WMU in 2013. John and Cole got along through silly jokes and music. John and Cole went hiking in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada where they had the rare opportunity to canoe on Lake Louise.

John met Jake through Greek life at WMU in 2014. John and Jake have always gotten along through their sense of humor.

Casey and Kinsey met one faithful day in ‘94. Their parents said, “Kinsey, do you want a little sister?” to which Kinsey replied, “No.”  Luckily, their parents brought her home anyways. Sisters are like built in best friends.

Kinsey and Jenny met through their mutual love for music. They met teaching percussion for high school marching band. When Kinsey transferred to Grand Valley State University, Jenny showed Kinsey around campus, and they have been friends ever since!

Kelly and Kinsey met by chance when their middle school choir teacher assigned seats in class (presumably putting the quiet student next to the more talkative one). Coincidently, they were paired together for middle school gym class as well, and the rest is history.

Bailey and Kinsey met one day in ‘97. By that time, Kinsey was a pro at being a big sister, and was actually excited to bring another sibling home. Bailey’s son (Kinsey’s nephew), CJ is the ring bearer for the wedding!

Courtney and Kinsey met at work. They were colleagues that became fast friends. Not too long after, they formed a trivia team “Smarty Pints” at what quickly became one of their favorite breweries. Courtney even helped John out with the proposal by transcribing “Will you marry me?” into International Phonetic Alphabet.

Jessica is Kinsey's cousin and very much like an older sister. She and Kinsey both celebrate their birthdays only days apart in April and have a tradition to go out every year to celebrate!

The closest hotel to the wedding venue is Best Western, however, there are other AirBNB and small motel options in Saugatuck. There are many hotel chains in Holland as well! *We did not book a block of rooms due to the wedding being in the off season!
