The night of December 1, 2012

It was the night of my sorority's Red Dress Formal. My date had ditched me so I spent most of the night very upset about the whole deal. To be honest I did not even want to go to formal but my best friends basically forced me to go.

As I am sitting there at the table just waiting for everything to get started I look down at my phone and I see a message on Facebook from some guy I didn't know. The message said "Having fun?" I was not sure how to answer it so I said "I guess.." and then he replied "well you look very beautiful" So that is when it dawned on me that he was in the room so I began to scan the room looking for guys on their phone. Which turned out to be a lot harder than I thought because every guy in that room was on their phone. I showed my two best friends the message and we all began to search the room. At this time there were speeches going on so we couldn't really talk. Then I got another message on my phone asking "dance with me after this". So I began to panic. I really needed to figure out who this guy was. As soon as the speech was over I set out on a mission. One of my friends found me and told me they had figured out who it was and showed me and I have to say I was not impressed. However for some reason I found another one of my sorority sisters and asked who "Saul" was. She pointed over to the bar and told me who it was, and it turned out that my other friend had pointed out the wrong guy but at least I knew who he was. So I made my way back to my seat when one of my sorority sisters made their way over and sat down beside me and said " I heard that Saul was asking about you and I just want you to know that you have nothing to worry about. He is a great guy and when he finds something he wants he goes after it".

And then the music began….

As I'm sitting there at the table Saul walks up and puts his hand out and then he asked me to dance. Well of course I said yes even though I had no idea how to two step. We made our way to the dance floor and then we started to dance. I was having trouble learning the steps but he slowed it down and slowly taught me. As the song was ending he kissed my hand and walked me back to my seat, and said "next slow song I'll come find you again". As two other songs passed finally another country song came on and once again he walked over to the table and leads me to the dance floor. This time we danced with more ease as I followed his lead. At the end of the song he grabbed my chin like he was about to kiss me but instead as he grabbed my chin he said "you're a very beautiful young woman. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise" and just like that it was over…

I walked back to my seat my face as red as my dress shaking as I sit down. The night quickly came to an end. Then as we get up to leave he finds me once again and ask me to come to the after party with him, so I agreed to meet him there.

As we headed back to the dorm to change I found that my mind and heart were racing. We changed and headed to the party but then decided to stop and get some drinks before we headed that way. One of my friends accidently locked her keys in her car so we were stranded there for about two hours waiting for someone to come and unlock her car. By the time we got to the party almost everyone was gone including Saul…

That night I ended up getting Saul's phone number off of Facebook and I texted him, but soon fell asleep. The next morning when I woke up I had a Facebook message saying that he was so sorry that he had to leave the party but he had drank something he was allergic to and was sick all night long. So, as we continued to talk on Facebook he texted me back asking who it was. I decided to pretend I had no idea that it was his number and then asked him "who is this". When he said that he had gotten a text from me last night I pretended that I had no idea how I got his number and stated that one of my sorority sisters must have grabbed my phone and texted him.

This is my story of how Saul and I met, and I am so thankful that we did.
