The first time I heard about Frazier was after my sister went on a date with him in the fall of 2022. She told me about a guy who was quiet and awkward but seemed nice on their first date so I told her to go on a second and see if it was just first date jitters. He took her to the art museum for date number two and they still barely talked. By the time they got to the car, he was ending it and she was relieved. Thus, he became known as Art Museum Guy.
Fast forward to December 2023 - I’ve been in Houston for about 5 months and had become fast friends with Monica. She had just started dating Jake and invited me to New Years Eve with Jake and his friends. There I met Frazier. He seemed very friendly, we had a fun time, and I thought he was nice. After New Years, I’m telling my sister everything and she tells me that he’s Art Museum Guy.
The next time I see Frazier, we are getting dinner with Jake and Monica before a birthday party. Conversation goes to my sister and I show Jake a picture of her, Frazier sees and makes the connection in his head but doesn’t say anything. As the night goes on, I discover Frazier is a 2%er as he doesn’t wear his Aggie ring and has barely been back for any games. The cumulative evidence made me determine I would not date him.
Over the next few months, we continued hanging out as a friend group and got along really well. Monica and Jake noticed and started pushing us dating really hard to me. This caused me to dig my heels in further that I wouldn’t date him. On a group trip to an Aggie baseball game, they made a comment in front of the whole group and I shut it down out loud in front of Frazier and watched his face fall (I knew he was crushing on me at this point). I felt awful and was finally able to get them to stop trying to force it.
Now that no one was talking about it I found myself actually considering it. A few weeks later, we went two stepping as a group, and I decided I was going to flirt and see how I felt about it. I ended up having the best time. He didn’t understand why I was constantly dancing with him and talking to him all night. The next weekend, we went to Memorial Ice House to watch the Astros/Nats game and we stayed and talked for a whole hour after everyone else left and he still didn't catch on. So I finally told Monica I had changed my mind and she was allowed to tell Jake. They devised a plan for the four of us to do dinner at the boys' house that night. After dinner and chatting with their other roommate, we put a movie on. I sat next to Frazier on the couch and just casually put my head on his shoulder (I could feel his heart racing). After the movie, I went to leave and he didn’t even say bye.
I started texting him the next day to convince him to go on the church retreat that weekend since I was going, which sparked a multi-day constant texting conversation (we were all shocked at his level of rizz) that ended just before Metro on Tuesday. I got excited when he came to the late night after (cause he never does) and went over to talk. He fakes me out to say he’s leaving but finishes with “Before I leave, I was wondering if you’d like to go on a date.” I said yes instantly and we made plans for Sunday after retreat. The next day, he surprised me by saying he signed up for retreat so we really got to kickstart our date a few days early.
I have since fixed his 2%er and he now wears his Aggie ring daily, went to all the football games with me, and even a few baseball games. I couldn’t be more excited to be marrying him.
Kirby
I had a solo trip to Spain that I had been planning long before we started dating that occurred two months into dating. A few weeks before, while hanging out one evening, Frazier suddenly brought up that it's a 7 hour time difference to Spain and he had been determining when we could talk on the phone while I was there. We decided to talk on his lunch break while he was working and at whatever time we were both available on the weekends/holiday. The fact that he had looked into it unprompted made me realized he could be the one for me.
The trip cemented it as I found myself looking forward to our phone call more than any of the sights I had so looked forward to seeing and wishing he was there to experience it all with me.
Frazier
As Kirby was off in Spain, I found myself looking forward to our lunch phone calls. It became one of the best parts of my days. Throughout Kirby's trip, I missed her and couldn't wait until she got back.
Throughout the following weeks I knew I loved Kirby by how she cared for me and genuinely wanted to know me for me. She had become my best friend and I didn't want to spend life with anyone else.
One day while we were at my place, I told I loved her, to which she paused and giggled. I took it as she wasn't about it, so I panicked momentarily. Good news, she said she loved me too.
From the time I decided to propose to Kirby, I knew I wanted to propose on New Years Eve, the day we had met the year before.
As time got closer to the day, Kirby kept shamelessly trying to lobby me to propose on New Years Eve because "it would be cute". Every time she would bring it up, I would pass enough doubt and not give her anything to be sure that it was happening then.
In the weeks leading up, Kirby had mentioned that she would like me to plan more surprise dates. What she didn't know is that gave me a great alibi, and that I was trying to come up with a reason to go on a nice "surprise" date. So I said fine let's have a surprise lunch date New Years Eve afternoon. I told her that we were going to do lunch.
On New Years Eve as we were on the way, I made a detour to the park. As we got out, I said that we were there for a picnic, which I don't think she believed. We walked around the park until we stumbled across a secluded path with a bench where I had set up flowers and pictures. Then, I dropped on one knee. Luckily, she said yes.
