What’s the best way to get to Queenstown from Sydney?

The easiest way is to fly directly from Sydney (SYD) to Queenstown (ZQN). The flight takes around 3 hours and there are direct flights available with airlines like Virgin, Qantas, Air New Zealand, and Jetstar.

Do I need a passport?

Yes! Even though it’s just across the ditch, you’ll need a valid passport to enter New Zealand.

Where should we stay?

Queenstown has a range of options—from luxury lodges and boutique hotels to cosy Airbnb stays. We recommend booking early, as Queenstown is a popular destination! Some convenient areas to stay include Queenstown CBD, Fernhill, and Frankton.

Is there a group booking or accommodation block?

Yes! We have arranged some hotels to offer group discounts for accommodation. These are ****.

What should I pack?

The weather in Queenstown can be a bit unpredictable, so we recommend packing layers! Think a warm jacket, comfy walking shoes, and something dressy for the big day. Don’t forget sunscreen—yes, even if it’s chilly.

What’s the weather like in November?

Expect cool mornings and evenings, and mild daytime temps. Just like Sydney, it's heading into summer but there may be the occasional shower, so an umbrella or rain jacket could come in handy.

What can we do while we’re in Queenstown?

We would encourage you make a holiday out of this trip as there is so much to do! Think scenic walks, wine tours, lake cruises, adventure sports (like bungy jumping and jet boating), or just relaxing at a cosy café with stunning views. A few faves: - Skyline Gondola & Luge - Arrowtown (a charming historic village) - Wine tasting in Gibbston Valley - Milford Sound day trip - Onsen Hot Pools (book in advance!) - Snowboarding or skiing if there is snowfall - Helicopter trips - Jetboating and more!

Do we need a car?

If you’re planning to explore the region, a rental car is a great idea. But if you’re sticking to central Queenstown, everything is walkable or accessible via shuttle/Uber/taxi.

Do I need travel insurance?

We highly recommend it! While we hope everything goes smoothly, travel insurance can help cover unexpected things like flight cancellations, lost luggage, medical emergencies, or last-minute changes. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
