We like to call this the prequel to our story. In high school, we were in the same "Work Crew Training" for Young Life. We met in this group every week for a few months. Without either of us knowing it, we were standing next to our future spouses! It's confusing how Emily didn't fall for Klayton's devilishly handsome looks.

Dorm rooms. Road trips. Game nights. The Gallon Challenge. The first year of college was a blast. We became good friends.

Still friends at this point! While we didn't have any romantic feelings for each other yet, we took this photo that looked like we were dating to prank one of Klayton's roommates. Maybe we should prank his roommate that we won the lottery and hope that comes true too!

Years of friendship flew by! We grew up together and stayed close friends.

Ok, enough friendship talk. In our fifth year of college we found ourselves studying at the same coffee shop every other day. We started to notice things about each other that we had never noticed before. We even skipped class together. The feelings of friendship were traded for butterflies and adventure. Klayton took a risk and invited Emily out on a date. When Emily said yes, the adventure really began.

Dating was fun and easy! We had been friends for so long it was effortless to be ourselves around each other. Every step along the way felt like a gift from God for the both of us.

"I love you!" "I love you too!"

We had countless picnics in this park before this moment. Klayton set the day up like it was just another one of those picnics. This spot is special to us and was the perfect place to pop the question.
