Our Story

Konnor & Carson

How we met

When I sat down to write out our story, I honestly didn't know where to start because our story didn't start when Carson asked me to be his girlfriend. With both of us growing up in Dalhart, we knew each other long before we started dating, we went to the same preschool, we both showed pigs, and once we got to junior high we had the same friend group. Freshman year of highschool you could find us spending almost every weekend together with our group of friends, and if you ask any of them they could all see the spark even though Carson and I denied liking each other. On December 23, 2016 we were at Trey's house having a birthday party for both Carson and Trey. In order for Carson to have the nerve to ask me to be his girlfriend, he thought he needed some liquid courage, and I'll never forget what he said to me on Trey's living room couch. "Before I ask you this, I want you to know that I promise I'm not drunk...will you be my girlfriend?" I went home and Courtney somehow knew that this was happening tonight so she let my ENTIRE family know the next day at our Christmas dinner that I was dating Carson. Within the first week of us dating my mom told me that I was going to marry him one day, but me being only 16 told her that there was no way she could know that already, but I guess mom's do know everything. Since then we have gone to prom together, graduated high school, traveled to France, started and graduated from college, and started our grown up jobs.

The Proposal

For our 6 year anniversary I got Carson tickets to go see Tyler Childers in Dallas. We were going to spend the entire weekend in Dallas, but besides the concert I didn't have anything else planned. Little did I know that Carson had been busy planning out one of the best days of our life. He had found a photographer on Instagram, picked the place, and made sure that all of the details were perfect! He literally went shopping for the right shirt to wear four different times before he found the perfect one. The only people that knew about the proposal were my dad and Carson's coworkers that I had never met so there was no way that I would find out about it beforehand. We drove down Thursday morning and met Rally for lunch before going to the concert that night. The morning after the concert we got ready and went to brunch and in true Carson fashion he dropped food on the shirt he was planning to propose in. I was joking about how he always does that and he was losing his mind. I mean he had planned everything so perfect and now hot sauce was going to become his enemy on this big day? I told him that it was no big deal and we could go back to the hotel and try to get it out. Fast forward to getting to the botanical gardens we were just walking around when Carson says "well now that I have you here" and I immediately knew that the moment I had been waiting for for the past 6 years was finally happening. I threw my wallet out of the way and neither of us really remember exactly what he said because we were so excited/nervous. The photographer was the perfect touch to make sure that we had pictures of the day to remember it by. We walked around the gardens for a couple hours and just soaked up everything before we announced it to everyone. When we were driving back to the hotel Carson was going 15 miles over the speed limit in a school zone and we got pulled over by a motorcycle cop. I don't know how or why, but the cop let us go with a warning, we like to say that he could just tell that we were having the best day ever and he didn't want to ruin it. Once we got back to our hotel we decided to facetime our family and tell a few friends early before we let the whole world know. It was so fun to see everyone's reactions and celebrate with them.

Well now you are all caught up on the last couple months of our lives and you know a little bit more about our story! We cannot wait to celebrate with all of you at our wedding!
