Korecca and Martell first met each other their freshman year at McKinley High School through a mutual friend. They would always see each other after school while Martell was on his way to practice with the football team and Korecca was on her way to practice with the step team. Martell would ride his bike across town daily to Korecca's house. At the time Martell had a crush on Korecca but she only wanted to be friends. They soon became best friends, hanging out on Korecca's porch, attending homecomings and school events until Martell left McKinley to attend Timken High School. Although they didn't see each other in school anymore Martell still rode his bike across town daily to see Korecca after school. It wasn't until September 2010 that they officially began dating. Martell was attending Toledo University and Korecca was attending Kent State University. They both traveled to visit each other on campus a few times and it was during one of these visits that Martell told Korecca that one day he was going to marry her. Fast forward to November 1st, 2020. Martell finally asked Korecca to marry him and Korecca said "It's about time!!"
