Korin & Brad

December 7, 2024 • Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico

Sayulita is a small town just north of Puerto Vallarta in Nayarit, Mexico. Korin and Brad first visited Sayulita when a snow storm forced a last minute change of plans from a Big Bear ski trip to a tropical winter beach mission. On that trip we decided this was the place we would get married.

We love that Sayulita is a small but active town. The town center is always happening, all the way through the night. For that reason we love staying just outside of town so we can easily go back and forth. The town is very walkable but as you get outside there are quickly some pretty steep hills. For getting around there are numerous golf cart and/or scooter rentals if you would rather not walk. We recommend not being picky with your parking spot in town because everything is very walkable once there. You'll quickly get your bearings. Here are some things we've learned in our 2 previous visits.

Sayulita Life is the trusted source for most local business in town. Great to find private drivers, Airbnb alternatives, activities, and more. Definitely check it out and explore the site: https://www.sayulitalife.com/

$$ and Paying for things in Town

Recommended to get Pesos ahead of time through your bank, at the airport, or at Intercam Banco in Sayulita. Benefit of pulling out cash is you can ask for some smaller denominations which will be needed in town. Many vendors/restaurants take card but you will run into some that don't. DO NOT use the in town ATMs (Besides the main bank location - Intercom Banco). Some restaurants will say they do not take credit cards but they often do). The tours and vendors all only take pesos but if you overpay in USD they’ll take it hesitantly.

Flights

Fly into Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR). Living in San Diego we have flown from the Tijuana Airport which is very convenient to access with the Cross Border Xpress and allows you to fly domestically within Mexico and save money on the flights.

Transportation from the Airport

We have gotten a rental car and had a good experience with this, its a nice and easy drive from the airport to Sayulita

We have also gotten a driver to pick us up roundtrip which was also very easy. We have had a good experience with Sayulita VIP Transportation for this:

There is also a bus that is used by many but we can't speak from experience here

Where to Stay

The Wedding Venue is just outside of town in Sayulita, it will be accessible by golf cart/scooter for those in town and by driver service for anyone in any of the neighboring towns. Here are some options:

Sayulita - Closest most convenient for the wedding. Town will have nightlife and noise every night so if you want to have some quiet make sure you are staying outside of the town center area. The surrounding area is very hilly so prepare for challenging walks or renting a golf cart. Look up reviews for these sort of things wherever you are staying.

Punta Mita - This area has a stretch of resorts that are close enough for a driver to and from the Wedding. This is where you find the golf courses and the Resort type experience.

San Pancho - Smaller quieter neighboring town just north of Sayulita, requires a drive to and from Sayulita

We will add updates to the top of this page if and when there are any ahead of the Wedding.
