A unique beach with round black pebbles ("Mavra Volia"). The stones have volcanic origin and the beach is located between the cones of two now non-active volcanoes. If fact there are three large beaches, each in its own small bay. The most distant is ofcourse the most quiet, while all restaurants and cafes are near the first beach. The water is truly transparent and not too warm, and it gets deep very near the shore.

Glaroi beach is 7 kilometres northeast of Chios town, on the road to Kardamyla. The bay is a shelter for seagulls, and it was named after them (glaroi means seagulls).It is a sandy seaside with a wild and unusual beauty, which attracts both locals and visitors. Its diaphanous green waters are very cold because there a stream of spring water from the mountain flows into the sea.The beach bar often organises music gigs and parties, with lots of happenings, turning the beach into one of the summer hot spots of the island.

Mesta is a Greek traditional village in Chios. It belongs to Mastic Villages a group of villages in South Chios where the main activity is the agriculture of mastic. Mesta is characterised by particular architecture since it is a village-castle with perfectly preserved medieval architecture. Mesta is located 35 km south west of Chios (town).

Nea Moni ("New Monastery") is an 11th century monastery on the island of Chios that has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located on the Provateio Oros Mt. in the island's interior, about 15 km from Chios town. It is well known for its mosaics, which, together with those at Daphni and Hosios Loukas, are among the finest examples of "Macedonian Renaissance" art in Greece.

Pyrgi is a village on the Greek island of Chios, known as the "painted village" on account of the decoration of the houses. This mostly consists of black and white decorative motives in different shapes.Pyrgi is one of the biggest villages in Chios, located in the south part of the island, 25 km south of the island's capital. The village keeps it's medieval style , with narrow roads covered with arches or vaults.

The cave of Olympi (also known as cave Sykia) is located on the South part of Chios island, near Olympi village and not far away from Pyrgi and Mesta villages.It is located 100 meters above sea level and its maximum depth is 55 meters. Although the cave is relatively small, its interior full of stalactites and stalagmites is exceptional, making it one of the best of its kind in Greece.

Chios is the only place in the world where a special type of lentisk resin is produced by the mastic tree. The cultivation of the mastic has been known since ancient times and it has been strongly tied to the island's historyThe Chios Mastic Museum is located in Southern Chios, in the region of the Mastichochoria.The permanent exhibition is centred on the gum mastic of Chios as a unique product. It aims to chart the technique of the gum mastic tree's traditional cultivation, and to present the product's history, the evolution of the pre-industrial and industrial technology for the production, exploitation and marketing of gum mastic, as well as to showcase its different uses.
