When is the wedding?

The wedding day is May 4th, 2024. A welcome party and a goodbye brunch will be on the evening of May 3rd and morning of May 5th, respectively.

Where is the registry?

Thank you so much for thinking about a gift for us. Here's what we'd love:

In lieu of a gift, we invite you to donate to Humble Bumble. It is a New Orleans-based nonprofit that delivers healthy meals to local students in need. Chef Nathanial Zimet started this organization, and we're fortunate to have him cater our reception. Learn more about the organization and make a donation here.

What's Confetti?

We’ve heard from so many people that some of the best pictures are the ones guests take and we’d love to have the pictures you wanna share. Confetti is a way for us to stay in touch and for you to share your memories during the wedding week.

Confetti lets us message you through text, and lets you share your photos in a private space that’s only accessible to people at the wedding. You don’t have to download an app, no one outside the wedding is invited, and no one keeps any of your information. Think of it like a private feed, just for the wedding.

The week before the wedding, you’ll receive a text message inviting you to view our wedding’s event page. From here, you can see what we share with the group. Sporadically during the week, you’ll also get texts with important reminders, and to give you a chance to send pictures, videos, or messages to the group. We're excited to see you there!

What’s the dress code on wedding day?

Festive cocktail:

This means cocktail attire with vibrant colors. The brighter the better. Fun suits and dresses are encouraged! **Please do not wear white dresses or jackets (button-down shirts are ok).** Please do not wear jeans. Please keep in mind that we will be outside for part of the day, and the weather may go into the 80s. Crucially, there will be a parade during the event (and you’ll be in it). Therefore, we recommend light fabrics. Light, bright, alright!

For suit-wearers: jackets are recommended. That said, fun and fancy short sleeve button-downs underneath are alright by us. Kousha will wear a bow tie. But ties are not required.

For high-heelers: Be warned that New Orleans’s cobblestone streets are beautiful and plentiful. We’d recommend leaving your stilettos at home. But you do you.

What should I wear to the welcome party?

Smart casual and festive. That means a button down shirt or nice top (short sleeves okay!). Pants, jeans, or nice shorts. Casual sundresses and skirts. Kousha will wear a festive suit jacket with a fun button down shirt and sneakers. Elise will wear a dress.

What should I wear to the farewell brunch?

Festive and more casual. Jeans or nice shorts. Tshirts, button down shirt, nice top (short sleeves okay!). Casual sundresses and skirts.

How do I get to the ceremony?

Take a Lyft or an Uber. Do NOT drive yourself.

How do I get from the ceremony to the reception?

We will provide transportation!

Thanks!

You're welcome!

How do I get to the transportation?

We will parade or "second line" together from the ceremony to the buses. It's only a few blocks, but with the parade festivities it will end up being about a 20 minute walk outside. We will provide alternative mobility options to anyone who requires them. Please see options in the RSVP section or reach out to Kousha and Elise and they'll take care of the rest.

Can I play an instrument in the parade?

YES! Our parade band is up to have other people join in. Please bring your instrument to the ceremony on Saturday afternoon. You will have somewhere to store it during the reception. Please reach out to Kousha or Elise for a list of songs the band will play. Thanks!

What is a New Orleans style wedding reception?

New Orleans receptions are not seated dinners. Instead, they consist of passed appetizers and buffets, with lots of food options and beverages. It's a dynamic, social atmosphere that allows you to move freely about the reception space. Seating is left open, and the dancing starts early! You're free to eat when you want and move around. Our reception is in a cool place -- go mingle and explore!

What will we eat at the wedding?

We're going to offer multiple options for appetizers, mains, and desserts. There will be something delicious to fit all dietary restrictions.

Our food will be a mix of Creole and Persian inspired dishes for the passed appetizers and Persian food for the main course. Persian dishes are focused on rice, stews, grilled meat, and vegetables. We accompany all these with fresh herbs like green onions, radishes, and parsley.

Like most New Orleans style weddings, the main course is buffet style. You can have a taste of everything.

Can I bring additional guests/children?

Due to space restrictions at our venues, we're unfortunately limited to the people named on the invitations. We really appreciate your understanding and hope you're still able to come celebrate with us!

"Race & Religious" is an interesting name for a place.

It's on the corner of Race Street and Religious Street. It's like the Secret Garden meets Mardi Gras. Look at some photos online or delight yourself when you arrive!

Anything else I should know?

We are thrilled to celebrate with you and so grateful that you are coming. Thank you for your support and presence. We are so excited for you to bring the funk. <3 ┏(‘▀_▀’)ノ♬♪
