Our Invisible String Love Story

It all began on the other side of the world in Okinawa, Japan. Christian was serving in the Marine Corps, and I was working as a contractor while also picking up a second job at a local bar. Our paths crossed there, but we didn’t speak much—our interactions were brief, and mostly consisted of me cashing him out. I honestly don’t even remember it (but he swears I did!). Still, I knew who he was, even if we never exchanged more than a quick hello.
After Christian was stationed in 29 Palms, California, and returned to the United States at the end of 2019, I remained in Okinawa until 2021, before eventually moving to Maryland. It wasn’t until his departure that Christian added me on social media (he says he was too shy to talk to me in person!). Our online connection was casual, just occasional messages like “hope you’re doing well!” and funny TikToks shared back and forth. Even when life took us in different directions, we stayed connected by liking and supporting each other’s posts.
From early 2021 to 2023, we didn’t talk, but we followed along with each other’s lives quietly from afar. That is, until mid-2023, when I noticed Christian posted he was in DC. I reached out to ask what he was doing on the East Coast—and that was the moment everything shifted. From that point on, we began texting regularly.
Even though I kept making excuses about being too busy to hang out (sorry, babe!), Christian was always patient, consistent, and unwavering. Despite my best efforts to avoid falling for him, I couldn’t help it—he quickly became the person I wanted to talk to the moment I got off work, the one who crossed my mind when I saw something cute, and the reason I found myself checking my phone just to see if hed texted.
It all came to a head in November 2023 when Christian invited me to his housewarming party. And that’s when we both realized: we absolutely needed to be together. It was like everything clicked into place. From that moment on, we knew we were meant to be. We’re not just a perfect match—we share brain cells.
And so, the rest is history. Our journey may have started on opposite sides of the world, but it was always leading us back to each other. And we couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter together.
