If you'd like to join us down on the coast a week ahead of time, you'll be down in time to catch the Peter Anderson Festival! The festival is a blast every year. Peter Anderson was an artist who lived in Ocean Springs years ago. Every year, local artists and vendors set up tents and booths on Government and Washington streets in OS to sell art, food, drinks, and more. It is estimated that about 150,000 people ventured through the festival in 2020 alone. It's a great time to check out the shops and downtown scene in OS. This year, it falls on November 5th and 6th.
Gil's is the dive bar where Krista and I had our first date. It is a quaint little place overlooking the bayou with outdoor seating available. A great place to grab a drink prior to (or even after!) going to downtown Ocean Springs.
Bringing little ones? Margaritaville in Biloxi has a ton of games and activities for the whole family. Overlooking the beach, Margaritaville offers entertainment and food options for those looking to include the kids in their trip to Mississippi.
Believe it or not, the Mississippi Gulf Coast comes with its fair share of casinos. Palace Casino, Golden Nugget, Harrah's, the IP, Scarlet Pearl, Hard Rock Casino, and Beau Rivage are perhaps the biggest names in the vicinity closest to where we'll be getting married. A few of these are in walking distance from each other and anyone could spend a day hopping between them. There's even a trolley that goes from one to the next in a big loop. Our favorites include Hard Rock Casino (the bands' outfits and instruments on display are quite a sight to see) and the Beau Rivage, an MGM casino directly across from the local minor league ballpark.
