Our Wedding

Mackenzie and Kristen met like many modern day romances.... online in 2020. Their first date was for a walk around Caledonia. It was peak COVID times and everything was shut down, so they went for a walk on cold (-15C!!!) December evening. The next few months were filled with many long walks. A few months into dating, Kristen suggested a new place to go for a walk and Mackenzie responded "Please no, not another walk!". Since then, Mackenzie and Kristen enjoy skiing/ snowboarding, spending time with friends and family, spending time outdoors, playing games, and camping. Mackenzie grew up in Mount Hope and now lives in Caledonia. He is a carpenter and owns a custom framing company (Koning Brothers Construction) with his brother Evan. Mackenzie enjoys playing golf and hockey. Mackenzie is the middle child - he has an older brother Evan and younger sister Leah. Kristen has lived in London for the past two years and works as an Occupational Therapist in Geriatric Rehab. She grew up in the Owen Sound area. She is also the middle child - she has an older brother Nathan, older sister Jessica and younger sister Sarah. Kristen enjoys travelling and spending time outdoors. Kristen's brother Nathan has a global developmental disability. When Mackenzie came to Owen Sound to meet Kristen's family, Mackenzie had to pass the test of winning Nathan over. Mackenzie shared his beer with Nathan and that was it... Nathan giggles every time Mackenzie comes over and Mackenzie has been apart of the family ever since! Mackenzie has spent the past year and a half proudly telling Kristen that Haldimand County is the best place on earth! It seemed to work because Kristen is moving to Haldimand county when they get married.
