Our Wedding

"Six degrees of separation" is a concept, first proposed by Frigyes Karinthy in 1929, stating that any two people on Earth are connected by a chain of no more than six acquaintances, forming a "small world". Our story is our favorite example of six degrees of separation. The dominos of our story began falling well before we ever met. In May 2019, I (Kristen) walked into a bar and asked a stranger and her two friends to join me and Hillary for dinner because my brothers left us high and dry with a 6 person reservation at The Broadway in Southie. That stranger was Marissa Mattei (O'Connor). Not only has Marissa married into the family since that night in 2019, but that night also scored the Dillon/Grant/O'Connor clan invites to the annual Flynn Family Christmas Bar Crawl. Re-enter Our Story...Greg himself had scored annual invites to this crawl as a close friend of Marissa's cousin Meaghan Flynn. Unbeknownst to either of us, we had both been attending the Flynn Family Bar Crawl for years before we met. Check out the first thumbnail on our photos page for a fun game of iSpy! In the same pubs, drinking the same beers, Greg even swears thinking back that he remembers seeing me at Paddy O's eating chicken fingers one year with “a group of giants” who you’ll all see dancing at the wedding... The universe must have been getting frustrated with our many near misses, because the dating app gods finally intervened in February 2023. Marissa and Meaghan conspired behind the scenes to make sure we actually met up, and we went on our first date March 6, 2023. Tequilas at Burro Bar followed by Boston's best pint of Guinness at JJ Foley's. The chemistry was instant. The only flaws I could find were that Greg didn't eat carbs and I couldn't pronounce his last name...don’t worry we’ve rectified both! Fast forward just a few weeks to the end of March, our fourth date was an entire weekend away at Loon for their annual 80s Day celebration. A good test of our brand-new relationship we figured! Turned out we could very happily spend 72 hours straight with each other, and the rest is history. Over the last (nearly) three years we’ve learned how to travel together, how to have a lazy night together, how to build and share a home, and how to grow alongside each other to be the best partners that we can be. We are looking forward to continuing all of that and more in our marriage. We are so excited to continue our life together, and we can’t wait to celebrate this next major step with you.
