Out of town guests information for the wedding on Long Island

ARRIVING IN NYC / Long Island

Recommend arriving on Friday in the early afternoon (or late morning), as you will need an additional 2 - 3 hours to get from the airport to the wedding venue.

Airports:

The best airport to arrive into is JFK. From there you can easily get a train out to long island.

If absolutely necessary, you can also fly into LGA (La Guardia), but it is harder to get a train out to Long Island. La Guardia would work if you choose to rent a car, but it’s not necessary.

How to get to Long Island (Airtrain > Long Island Rail Road > Uber/Lyft)

From JFK, you take the air train to Jamaica station. Here is some info about taking the air train:

You will need to pay $8 for the air train, but you can pay for it when you arrive at Jamaica station using a metro kiosk there

This will take about 30 - 45 minutes to complete .

From Jamaica Station you then take the Long Island rail road to Central Islip

You should map it from Jamaica to Central Islip

You will be riding the Ronkonkoma Branch

The train ride will be about an hour, and will cost about $12 - 16 dollars (depending on if you’re traveling at peak and off peak times).

The trains run every 30 - 60 minutes and you do not need to buy tickets in advance (but you can if you’d like).

From the Central Islip station, you should call an uber / lyft to get to the hotel

This will be about a 10 min ride

WEEKEND SCHEDULE

FRIDAY OUT OF TOWN GUESTS

Casual reception on Friday evening for the wedding party and out of town guests.

Timing: 6 - 9pm

SATURDAY

Breakfast on your own

The Hyatt Regency Long Island has a restaurant (Nu) where you can take breakfast

There are also a number of restaurants within a 5 min uber / lyft ride if you prefer something else (just ask guest services).

The wedding will happen on Saturday Evening at 6:30 at the Mansion at West Sayville

Dress is fancy, but not black-tie.

Men should be in suits or at least a dress shirt with a tie

Women should be in business casual or fancier

There will be shuttles to take you to and from the wedding from the Hyatt Hotel. The Shuttle will pick up at 5:30PM to arrive at the venue around 6PM (It takes about 25 minutes from the hotel to get to the venue, so plan on catching the shuttle at 5:30PM)

We recommend arriving at 6pm at the latest as the wedding will start promptly at 6:30

There will be a cocktail hour then a sit-down dinner to follow the ceremony

The wedding will last until 12pm, but shuttles will start again at 11:30PM, 1:00AM, and finally 2:10AM (for those staying for the afterparty 12-2)

SUNDAY

There will be a morning brunch hosted by Tom and Maureen Kotak at their home in Massapequa starting at 11AM

You can leave anytime you’d like on Sunday!

Do plan on giving it another 2 - 3 hours to get back to JFK

Similar to how you got there, you can:

Then take the train into Jamaica Station

Then take the airtrain to JFK

If you are driving make sure to account for lots of long island traffic
