We met in 2010 after moving into our Freshman dorm, Browning Hall, at the University of Rhode Island. We were next door neighbors and became friends and study buddies early on. Incredibly smart and kind, I always said that Luca was the nicest guy I had ever met.
We bonded over our nerdy sense of humor and love of music. I used to write corny song lyrics into his notebooks during class. He used to carry my bag across the quad. We had been friends for years before we decided to start dating our Junior year of college.
Post grad we both continued our academic journeys and moved to Boston. We lived together for the first time with roommates in a tiny Fenway apartment. Then we moved to an apartment on our own and eventually bought our first condo together.
When COVID hit we built a fort in our living room to watch movies while balancing being on the front lines of healthcare during one of the scariest times in medicine. We've been proud cat parents, new homeowners and are still figuring out how to "adult" together.
Despite all of the milestones we've shared, It doesn't feel like we've been together for 10 years. At the same time it feels like we've been married for years. I can't imagine sharing my life with anyone else
