In the summer of 1997, Kristen and Jeremiah met through mutual friends at the Lyon County fair in Emporia, Kansas. High school sweethearts, when they parted ways they continued a loyal and supportive friendship that has lasted nearly three decades. Kristen went away to college at New Mexico State University, while Jeremiah moved to Arkansas and enlisted in the United States Army.
They stayed in touch, celebrating one another's successes from afar, and occasionally reaching out to offer support during life's challenging times.
When Kristen took a position in Fayetteville, Arkansas the "old" friends were able to reconnect and found they continued to share the same mutual respect, core values, and familiar ease and comfort that they had as teenagers. The ease they feel in one another's presence and in their ability to be truly themselves, is as natural as when they were young teens. Some things never change. And they intend to live....
