FAQ

What time should I arrive?

Our ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30 PM. We kindly ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to mingle, find your seat, and silence your phone. We also ask that all guests put away their phones and cameras for the entire duration of our "unplugged" wedding ceremony.

Can I take pictures during the wedding ceremony?

Respectfully, no. We are having an "unplugged" ceremony and would greatly appreciate that you respect our wishes. This just means that we are asking all phones, cameras, and devices be put away and on silent during our wedding ceremony. We have hired a team of professionals to capture some of the most important moments of our lives, and we'd hate to see a well-meaning person's phone or camera blocking that moment for them to capture. We promise that our photographers and videographers are amazingly talented, and we are confident that you will love their work too. Moreover, we want everyone to be FULLY present in the moment with us. Not to mention, phones/cameras tend to block the views from the other wedding guests as well. We will share the pictures and video from the ceremony as soon as we get them! We pinky-promise!

Can I take pictures during the cocktail hour or the reception?

Yes, absolutely! Just continue to be mindful of the professional photographers and videographers who will be capturing special moments (e.g. the first dance) throughout the evening. There will also be a photo booth set up during cocktail hour so make sure that you drop by, snag a photo, and sign our guestbook. If you plan on posting any photos on social media, please feel free to use our wedding hashtags.

Will the wedding ceremony and reception take place at the same location?

Our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will all take place at the Lake Mohawk Country Club.

Will the event be outdoors?

The ceremony will be taking place outdoors directly on the lakeside beach (weather permitting). The cocktail hour will be outdoors on the LMCC boardwalk. The reception will be indoors and will take place in the Grand Ballroom.

What should I wear?

The wedding dress code is Beach Formal, but please wear what you feel most comfortable, beautiful, and ready to celebrate in. We want you all to feel fabulous whilst dancing the night away! You are also more than welcome to bring a pair of sandals for the wedding ceremony on the beach, or even change into your favorite sneakers before hitting the dance floor.

What is the average temperature like in Sparta during the month of August?

Thanks to the high altitude, the average August temperature in Sparta on a typical day ranges from a high of 84°F (29°C) to a low of 62°F (17°C). Some would describe it as pleasantly warm and humid, but cool.

Do you have an indoor ceremony option in case of inclement weather?

In the event that there is inclement weather, we will have the option to relocate to the Grand Ballroom.

What if I have food allergies or need a special accommodation?

If you need any accommodations for your meal please let us know when you RSVP. We will be sure to let the venue know so that they can do their best to accommodate your request.

Can I bring a guest?

Due to venue capacity, all invitations are labeled with either your guest's name, or your name followed by "and guest." If your invitation doesn't specify, the invitation is only extended to the name(s) of the guest(s) written on the label.

Are kids allowed?

Yes, you may bring your child as long as they were included on the invitation. Just please let us know if they require a kid's meal when you RSVP. If your child was invited, but Mom and Dad would prefer a night out (without their kiddos) that's totally okay too!

What if my kid was not on the invitation...can I still bring them?

Unfortunately, no. If you know us, they you also know how much we love children! However, we opted for a venue that allows us to have an intimate reception. Due to venue capacity, we can only accommodate meals and seating for a select few individuals (and you're one of them). It is not a kids thing...but rather a "how many people we have space for thing." We encourage you to use this evening as a date night! We hope that you understand and can still attend!

What about COVID?

We are so excited to celebrate with everyone! We are leaving it up to our guests to assess how safe they feel and any precautions they choose to take. As of right now, there are no restrictions in NJ or at our venue but if anything changes we will let you know.

Where can I book a room?

We have a room block for our guests at The Madison Hotel. If you select the "Hotel Accommodations" tab there will be detailed instructions on how to book under the wedding room block. However, please feel free to browse other local accommodations (most are all about 20-30 minutes away from the venue). We also posted an Air B-N-B link for you to explore should any of those options better suit your traveling needs.

Will there be transportation?

Unfortunately, The Madison Hotel does not offer a shuttle service at this time. Please keep this in mind when booking your stay, and whilst making your transportation plans to and from the venue. Fortunately, there are a lot of ride share options (Uber and Lyft) that you can schedule in advance, as well as local taxi service in the area. We have included additional links and information regarding these transportation options under the "transportation" tab.

Is there parking available?

Valet parking is available at our venue. However, you may also utilize Lake Mohawk Country Club private lot across the street.
