Kristen was a sophomore and Doran was a junior at South Dakota State. We were invited to a Halloween house party. There was an instant connection. We quoted Jeff Dunham and Spongebob references all the way back to our dorms. We were trying to walk slow to make the references last.

Shortly after the Halloween party, we were invited to a bonfire. Kristen, recently diagnosed with asthma, forgot her inhaler. It was dark and smokey, obviously, so Doran walked Kristen back to retrieve the inhaler.
