Friday:
We have a group outing planned for Friday morning at Percy Warner Park at 10am. We will be meeting at the stone steps of The Allee. There is free parking on site. There is no specific street address for the meeting location, but from the intersection of Page Rd. and Belle Meade Blvd. you will see large stone gates and a stone staircase leading up a hill (and hopefully lots of friends).
We will aim to start the walk around 10:15 and it will likely last about an hour and a half. The walk will take us on a 5.8 mile paved loop with mild hills. Let us know via text if you’re running late and would like us to hold up the train for you. The path is a little confusing and we’d like to make sure we lead the pack as a whole to ensure we all stay together.
Saturday:
We will be providing bus transportation from Holiday Inn Vanderbilt and The Parthenon.
Please meet at whichever location you plan to ride from at 5pm. Buses will leave at 5:15pm and drop off at the Nashville Public Library for the ceremony. The buses will then take guests from the Nashville Library to The Parthenon for the reception.
Ceremony: 6:00pm at Nashville Public Library - 615 Church St. Nashville, TN 37219
Reception: 7:00pm at The Parthenon - 2500 West End Ave., Nashville, TN 37203
Buses will make return trips to the hotels throughout the evening as needed. Scheduled times are 10pm and 11:30pm.
Sunday:
We will be having brunch at East Nashville Beer Works from 10-11:30am. Food and drinks will be provided. Dress is casual. The brewery has free parking, but it might be helpful to carpool as parking is limited
Address: 320 East Trinity Lane, Nashville TN 37207
Here are a few recommendations to check out for food and fun while you're in town.
Breakfast:
Wendell Smith’s: Kristin’s favorite dive breakfast spot. Get ready for waitresses who aren’t afraid of hairspray, tasty American fries, and the best diner omelet in town. 407 53rd Ave N, Nashville, TN 37209
Big Al’s Deli: This spot is WIlliam’s absolute favorite. It’s tiny, is definitely NOT a deli, and serves up hearty, tasty, soul food breakfast. And if you’re nice, Big Al himself will entertain you during your stay. Arrive as early as you can because seating is hilariously limited. 1828 4th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37208
Monell’s: If you’re with a group, come experience the soul food breakfast freakout that is Monell’s. This converted mansion houses several large tables where you will be seated family style and fed unlimited, delicious food until you literally can’t fit back out of the front door. 1235 6th Ave. North Nashville, TN 37208
Yeast Nashville: If you are on the East Side (or willing to drive), this is one of our go-to spots. Best breakfast tacos in town, and some other tasty baked goods that will tempt you (including Texas-style kolaches). 805 Woodland St #300, Nashville, TN 37206
Dozen: Classic bakery with tasty bread and yummy desserts. Highly recommend the baguette with butter and jam. 516 Hagan St #103, Nashville, TN 37203
Lunch:
Mitchell Deli: Really tasty sandwich shop on the East Side. Every single thing is tasty. 1306 McGavock Pk, Nashville, TN 37216
Clawson’s Deli: William’s favorite sandwich shop - try the Italian; it might change your life. 1205 4th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37210
VN Pho and Deli: Our favorite Vietnamese restaurant in town. Cash only, so make sure you’re prepared for that. 5906 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN 37209
Rotiers: A Nashville classic; one of the best diner burgers in town. 2413 Elliston Pl, Nashville, TN
Arnold’s Meat and 3: If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of meat and three, Arnold’s is one of the finest examples in existence. The long line moves fast, and the food is all delicious. 605 8th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203
5 Points Pizza: Kristin’s favorite pizza in town. Second (in life) to Papa’s Pizza in Culver, Indiana. 1012 Woodland St, Nashville, TN 37206 (another location on the west side of town too)
El Jalicience: Since William would probably die if he couldn’t recommend a taco shop, check out this very authentic spot for tasty lengua tacos (priced right at 1.50 each) and a spicy michelada right down the street from William’s first post-college apartment. 3225 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216
Dinner:
Sushi Train: Re-live our engagement at the one and only Sushi Train. Brace yourself for unlimited VERY AVERAGE sushi for an unthinkably low price. 94 White Bridge Rd, Nashville, TN 37205
Lockeland Table: Classic American fare, steps from Kristin’s first home in Nashville. 1520 Woodland St
Folk: Casual vibe, but fairly pricey menu., Kristin’s numero uno, new favorite fancyish restaurant in town. 823 Meridian St, Nashville, TN 37207
Plaza Mariachi: An immigrant-run food court style space. Best ceviche in town. 3955 Nolensville Pike
M.L. Rose: A Nashville standard for a great burger and a local beer. 2535 8th Ave S #1074
We’re not super active in the dining scene, so honestly, given the amount of quality joints popping up daily, we don’t think you can go wrong.
Things to Do:
Hike at Radnor Lake: 1160 Otter Creek Rd
Check out “Glow” at our minor-league baseball stadium. Ice skating, fake snow, live music, why not? 19 Jr Gilliam Way, Nashville, TN 37219
Visit the Zoo (site of our first date!): 3777 Nolensville Pike, Nashville, TN 37211
Visit the Frist Art Museum (cool mural exhibit on display right now): 919 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203
Explore Marathon Music Works (a collection of shops, distilleries, wineries, etc.): 1402 Clinton St, Nashville, TN 37203
Late Night:
Flying Saucer: Nashville’s best beer selection (and where Kristin introduced William to a beer float). This is a national chain of bars, but ours is in a really cool locale: 111 10th Ave S #310, Nashville, TN 37203
Santa’s Pub: Super dive karaoke bar - a Nashville classic. Santa himself will serve you a beer. Don’t swear on stage and be ready for a fairly smoky bar: 2225 Bransford Ave, Nashville, TN 37204
L.A. Jackson: Hotel bar on the roof of the Thompson Hotel; one of the best views of downtown Nashville: 401 11th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203
Mickey’s Bar: Smoke-free dive bar on the East Side. Great spot for a laidback night cap.: 2907 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216.
The Inglewood Lounge: Hip yet unpretentious cocktail bar located in an old chicken fast food building. Just down the street from our house. 3914 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216
Lower Broadway: If you want to hit the strip on lower broad, get ready for bachelorettes and spilled beer. We don’t go often BUT here are a few spots we do hit if we go:
Roberts Western World: Boot shop by day, bar by night. Local musicians and the most authentic honky tonk vibe. The only place locals will go.
Acme Feed and Seed: Giant multi-story complex with lots to hear and see
Printer’s Alley: a quick several block walk off lower broad, but this original bar strip has some interesting spots like a basement British pub, Fleet Street Pub, and my second favorite weird Karaoke bar, Miss Kelly’s.
Hot Chicken: PSA: William urges you to shop local and go somewhere other than Hattie B’s. For beginners, always start with the middle of the given scale provided for hotness. The scale is never the same. Also, as is true with all good hot chicken, it takes a half hour for bone-in chicken. Tenders are always quicker.
Helen’s Hot Chicken: Down the street from the first house William bought. 1801 Jefferson St #101, Nashville, TN 37208
Prince’s: The original. 423 6th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203
Boltons Hot Chicken and FIsh: 624 Main St. Nashville, TN 37206
Knockout Wings: NOT HOT CHICKEN. But decent chicken wings and life-changing honey biscuits. 1300 Jefferson St, Nashville, TN 37208
