Kristin & Jackson

A long, long time ago in a state not so far away a little boy battled his siblings with a lightsaber while a little girl wore a princess costume with the frequency and aplomb of an heir to the crown. The two embarked on a perilous and star crossed journey across eons, or at least a couple of decades. Battles ensued--over games of 21 and wars were waged to protect Barbies from the fearsome encroachment of older brothers. The triumphs were varied and many. Hard fought victories on the tennis court and over hothlike conditions many would deem inhospitable and some simply called Wisconsin. Hardships were faced and overcome, Math for him, Reading for her, as they crept along the slow path of destiny. And now, after a troubling amount of Taylor Swift Concerts, first dates who did not consider a comprehensive ranking of Paul Thomas Anderson’s filmography compelling conversation, dreams dashed and hopes realized, the long awaited destiny comes to rest on our protagonists shoulders. Those two little kids are getting married. Boom! Bet you didn’t see that coming.
Jackson and Kristin’s love story didn’t begin the traditional way: slowly falling in love over email before realizing his heartless retail conglomerate was poised to crush her charming neighborhood bookseller; imploding the relationship before overcoming their differences via a mutual love for literature and AOL. No, they met through the extended Belmont Baseball crew--matchmakers extraordinaire--and bonded over a mutual talent for quiplash and disdain for Michelob Ultra. The relationship blossomed over the course of a 72 hour first date that encompassed art appreciation, French Food, a little country western dancing and an engagement (not theirs, we love you Laura and Alec!) From there they we were off to the races. There have been overseas trips, a gastronomical exploration of Nashville’s restaurant scene, enough weddings to fill a bridal themed coffee table book, a brave weathering of the vagaries of Georgia football, and one very cute cat. Throughout it all those kids haven’t forgotten to laugh, to lean on their friends and families, and greet life’s inevitable seasons with open arms and a toast.
Three years might seem like awhile, but forever is a mighty long time. Those daydreaming kids matured into grounded adults who haven’t lost their sense of adventure and are looking forward to building a future together. We know we will continue to lean on the wisdom and love of our friend and family as we navigate a life forever entwined. We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone now and forever. We’ll catch you on the dancefloor.
