We met at a Bible study led by one of the Georgia Tech strength coaches. We both were introduced to the Bible study as GT athletes - him through his teammates on the baseball team, and I through a teammate on the cheerleading squad. One night, after we happened to sit next to each other, I introduced myself as we were leaving. After bumping into each other a few more times, he asked me if he could take me out for ice cream. What was supposed to be a 30 minute study break turned into 3 hours of laughing and getting to know each other. After that, he asked me on our first real date on 11.19.14, to California Pizza Kitchen (our favorite!), and the rest is history.
We had planned to celebrate the second anniversary of our first date, like we do every year, by going to California Pizza Kitchen and recreating the night. We often like to go to Piedmont Park as well, so we decided to add that to the agenda if time permitted (little did I know, he had been planning that part for months!). When we got to the park, I thought we were just going to walk our usual path on the sidewalk around, but instead he asked me if I wanted to walk on the grass. I said yes in spite of the heeled boots that I was wearing, and I'm so glad that I did, because as soon as we stopped on this big beautiful hill, he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. And I couldn't have said yes fast enough! Little did I know, Will's friend Lydia had been there taking pictures the whole time! After visiting for a moment, we headed back to the car. At this point I'm still a little confused, thinking that we're going to California Pizza Kitchen, but again Will had bigger and better plans. He took me to my home in Marietta where not only had my mom planned a big lovely party for us, but where both of our whole families had come (from near and far) to celebrate, even brothers and sisters who came all the way from DC and San Francisco. November 19 was a perfect day two years ago, and was an even more perfect day this year to begin the rest of our life together.
