What is the best airport to fly into?

We recommend San Francisco International Airport (SFO) as a first choice, and Oakland International Airport (OAK) second as it can have heavier traffic to get in and out. There is also a small airport that is very close to the wedding venue Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport (STS). Neither of us have flown into this personally, but have had it recommended to us by others. Considering its small size, it will likely have less availability and potentially higher pricing.

What is the best means of transportation?

We recommend a car rental as public transit is not readily available in our area, and a car will offer the freedom to explore. You can use Uber/Lyft to get from the airport to Sausalito or Sonoma, but availability can be limited/costly.

What is the weather going to be like?

Thursday: If you are coming to the welcome party on Thursday Oct. 10, the weather is currently forecasted between 68 and 52 degrees, dropping to that low as soon as the sun sets. We suggest layers as the beginning part will be in the park and into the Sausalito Cruising Club afterwards. Saturday: For the wedding on Oct. 12, the weather is currently forecasted between 79 and 52 degrees, again dropping fast to the low after sunset.

What is the recommended attire?

Thursday: The Welcome Party will start with lawn games and paella in Dunphy Park with an after-party with a DJ and cash bar steps away at the Sausalito Cruising Club once the sun sets. The Sausalito Cruising Club is a very relaxed and laid-back place. The dress is casual for the day and evening. For ladies both this event and the wedding will be on grass, so I strongly discourage heels unless they are wedges or very chunky. Saturday: The Wedding will be at St Francis Winery. We are hoping this evening will be dressy and stylish. Please dress to impress with your best suit and evening dress, and again, avoid stilettos unless you want to find yourself barefoot in the grass most of the evening.

What are the traffic conditions

Fleet Week is going on our wedding weekend in SF; this is exciting, but also will increase traffic significantly. The Bay will be filled with boats and ships and the skies full of the Blue Angels and other aviation extravagance. ** note: because it is Fleet Week, the roads and freeways can get VERY backed up. Please give yourself a LOT of time to get to the wedding if you plan to drive up during the afternoon on Saturday. The wedding begins at 5pm, so if you are coming in from the city, we suggest leaving no later than 2pm, because as soon as the airshow ends, the 101 will become a parking lot.
