What is attire for the wedding?

The attire will be formal.

Ladies: floor length gown or cocktail attire.

Gentlemen: Please wear a jacket, black-tie optional.

Is this wedding indoors or outdoors?

This wedding is completely indoors with the ceremony and reception at St John’s Resort.

What can I expect the weather to be?

In December in Michigan it may be fairly cold with possible snow. Please bring normal winter outerwear and account for travel delays if snowfall should occur. It is recommended to have accommodations for Friday evening.

What does the ceremony entail?

This will be a full Catholic mass starting at 4:00pm EST. Catholic masses with weddings are typically between an hour and an hour and a half. After the ceremony concludes please make your way to the Atrium banquet hall. Any Roman Catholics that have received their First Communion are welcome to join us in receiving the Communion during the ceremony.

What does the reception entail?

The reception will be located at St. John’s Resort and will take place from 6:00pm EST until 11:00pm EST at the Atrium Banquet Hall. Cocktail hour will be from 5:00pm EST until 6:00pm EST, with dinner promptly being served thereafter.

Are children under the age of 18 or infants invited?

While we love your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the kids at home so you can celebrate with us. We are sorry but cannot provide any accommodations or exceptions on this.

Where are you registered?

We are using Williams & Sonoma, Amazon, and theKnot’s house fund feature.

Where should I stay?

St John’s Resort (the wedding venue) offers overnight accommodations. Please note that as of this writing, the Friday night before the wedding (12/6/2024) is completely sold out. If you desire to stay Friday night, please call the hotel to add your name to the wait list.

UPDATE: Please Call the resort to book your room. There is still availability on December 7 (the day of the wedding), however you must call the resort to book your room and mention the Sutor-Messina wedding block.

I plan on flying to the wedding, what’s the best airport to utilize?

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW). It’s a fairly close drive from the airport to Plymouth, about 20 minutes. Please note there are a number of construction projects going on in an around the Detroit area which can result in unanticipated traffic delays.

What is the parking situation like at St John’s?

St John’s boasts a robust parking lot that should be able to accommodate all wedding guests.
