Despite growing up and living in the same city for 20+ years and attending the same high school (4 years apart), we didn't meet until we were at a 4th of July party hosted by a mutual friend, Jenna Leigh Fabick, in 2016. Chris Zametz, another mutual friend, introduced us while we all discussed kickball strategy. We chatted briefly about soccer and kickball and sprinting, but went our separate ways after the party.
Later that 4th of July holiday weekend, after a lot of drinks, I ran into Jake's buddy, Adam Guttridge and decided to shoot my shot. Tell Jake DeLoach that I think he is a babe! I told Adam. Did he tell him? Yes. When? 6 months later. (thank a lot Adam) The only action after 4th of July was a lot of facebook likes and we both pursued other relationships at the time.
Lucky (for us) those relationships ended, we found ourselves single, and searching for love and attention on....the dating app Bumble! (@bumble)
We matched the week of the 2017 Superbowl, by this time Jake knew I thought he was a babe. The Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots were playing. The DeLoach's southern Georgia roots and Gomes' New England beginnings (and our competitive nature) had us pitted against each other. We had been chatting for a few days, and decided to make a wager on the game. Whoever's team lost, had to buy a round of drinks for the other.
The Patriots won (of course) and Jake and I met at Cask & Ale downtown for our first date. We went on 2 dates that week, Jake fell in love with my dog, Winnie, and the rest in history.
Fast forward 4 years later. We own a home together, we've traveled all over the country, we've won countless kickball championships, our families spend holidays together, we survived 2020 and we now have two dogs, Winnie and Nellie, who are our fur children!
When Jake asked me to marry him on August 7th, 2020 while we walked Winnie on the Ringling Bridge, it was the easiest decision I've ever made. We returned home, where both of our families were waiting to celebrate! We popped champagne and ate and drank and shared the news with friends and family!
Our story started and continues here in Sarasota, and we couldn't think of a better place to tie the knot! We are so excited to celebrate with all of our friends and family on November 13th, 2021 at the Art Ovation Hotel in downtown Sarasota, FL!
