How This Day Came to Be

Kristina and Chris met on Halloween in 2013 after being invited out by the one and only Emily Hall (at the time, Emily Martinez).&nbsp; Emily thought they would hit it off, and she was right!&nbsp; By the end of the night in Historic Ellicott City, MD,&nbsp;Chris asked Kristina for her number, and it wasn't long before they met for their first of many steak dinners a few short days later.

The relationship started slowly at first due to distance, with Kristina living in Leesburg, VA and Chris living in Columbia, MD, but they found time to see each other when they could around their always busy work schedules.&nbsp; As they got to know each other, they realized Emily was right, so they started to date, and made things serious when they&nbsp;moved in together in the summer of 2016,&nbsp;turning a house into a home in Columbia, MD.Since that time they have shared many special memories with their family&nbsp;and&nbsp;dogs, rung in the new year in the fabulous Las Vegas, made the most of work/vacation trips to Sarasota, Arizona and the Dominican Republic, and spent quality time at Deep Creek Lake and Smith Mountain Lake.&nbsp; In between all of that, Chris decided it was time to ask Kristina's dad, Tom, for permission to ask for Kristina's hand while sharing pints of Guinness.During the All Star Break&nbsp;of 2018, Chris snuck a trip to&nbsp;Shepherdstown, WV, to go ring shopping with Andrea (Kristina's sister), the aforementioned Emily, and Chris' mom Debbie.&nbsp; Chris had to tell a little fib to Kristina, with some help from Andrea, in order to get down there, but a ring was picked out.&nbsp; Now he just had to patiently wait.Fast forward to October 20, 2018, and following a baby shower, Kristina was dropped off in Historic Ellicott City (thanks to some more sneaky strategizing with Andrea)&nbsp;at the sight of their first meal and drink from that fateful Halloween in 2013, The Phoenix Emporium.&nbsp; After eating, they walked across the bridge over the Patapsco River, where on a bank next to the river,&nbsp;a display of fall decor, including hay bales, scarecrows and&nbsp;lights had the question spelled out in pumpkins.&nbsp; Kristina was surprised, and when she turned around, Chris was down on one knee with the ring out, and he said something he doesn't quite remember because his mind was going too quickly.&nbsp; Fortunately though Kristina said yes, and they retreated up the hills of Historic Ellicott City to Castle Angelo, where friends and family were waiting to celebrate the occasion!&nbsp; It was truly a night to remember.A week later they left for Ireland to celebrate with more pints of Guinness for one of (hopefully) many more trips of a lifetime to come, but they are looking forward to sharing their special day with you!

Andrea (Mobley) Jaques is Kristina’s sister.&nbsp; Since their earliest days Andrea has been the ying to Kristina’s yang.&nbsp; Their times together are always full of fun, inspiration, merriment, and the occasional mischief that Andrea gives Kristina the courage to go along with.&nbsp; Through thick and thin Andrea has been there for Kristina.&nbsp; As the vows are recited, I am honored to have Andrea, my sister and best friend by my side.&nbsp;

Even though Matt and Chris have different parents, Matt has always been Chris' big brother, not just his cousin.&nbsp; Throughout childhood, college and beyond, Matt has always cared for and supported Chris, and has been the catalyst for many great memories (even those they don't remember...)&nbsp; Chris is proud to have Matt as a co-Best Man along with his brother, Tim.

Tim, like Matt, is Chris' cousin, but he is really his little brother.&nbsp; Always there for him, they were partners in crime from an early age through today: Ocean City vacations as kids, trips to visit in college, doing wheelies down the fairway,&nbsp;and every time in between.&nbsp; Chris is proud to have Tim be a co-Best Man.

Emily (Martinez) Hall is Kristina’s longtime, best friend.&nbsp; Kristina and Emily became friends in 9th&nbsp;grade developing a bond that has weathered through time.&nbsp; Though not always physically together, we will pick up right where we left.&nbsp; &nbsp;Even as adults, we will always share the same affinity for Harry Potter and Gilmore Girls.&nbsp; Emily sees the beauty in people and things, loving and supporting them for exactly as they are.&nbsp; Emily saw the similarities between Chris and I and patiently waited until the opportune moment to introduce us.&nbsp; Emily can be credited with our beginning and I couldn’t imagine taking the next step with Chris without her.&nbsp;

Phill and Chris have been best friends since middle school.&nbsp; Countless hours spent playing baseball, hanging out and checking out the local bars, Chris is fortunate for a friendship that can last past 10:00 pm on certain nights of the year to this day.

Hannah Temme is a longtime friend, but much more like a sister to Kristina.&nbsp; Hannah grew up just down the street, resulting in alternating days of childcare at each other’s houses.&nbsp; Hannah is closer in age to Andrea and the two became inseparable resulting in a dynamic that resembled me having two younger sisters instead of one.&nbsp; Hannah was around for much of our daily lives and accompanied countless trips.&nbsp; Hannah and I share the same love of horses and overall gratification of nurturing others.&nbsp; I am grateful for all Hannah brings and am excited to have her, my cherished friend’s support.

Dan and Chris met while playing baseball, but they got to be much better friends when they roomed in college.&nbsp; Those were fun times, and fortunately the fun times continue through today.

Katie (Poole) Hannah is Chris’s sister.&nbsp; Katie brings an element of light-hearted humor whenever she walks into a room.&nbsp; She doesn’t take life too seriously and can always find the silver lining to any situation.&nbsp; As his older sister, Katie helped guide Chris passing along her sense of humor and outlook on life.&nbsp; We’re looking forward to having Katie stand next to us as we make our lifetime commitments to each other.&nbsp;

Adriana Chambers is Kristina’s cousin.&nbsp; Kristina remembers the day Adriana was born and she represents the next generation of family.&nbsp; Adriana is an intelligent, adventurous girl full of life, love and courage.&nbsp; Kristina is thankful for her to be a flower girl for the wedding.

Jacen is Chris' nephew.&nbsp; A smart and funny little man, he affectionately coined the bride to be Uncle Kristina, and loves to share time with his family.

Camden is a rambunctious little girl full of love and adventure, and you never know what she is going to get into next.&nbsp; She is Chris' niece,&nbsp;she is very excited to be in the wedding, and she can't wait to wear her flower girl dress.

Logan Chambers is Kristina’s cousin.&nbsp; A dinosaur enthusiast, Logan loves learning and reading about dinosaurs.&nbsp; We’re thankful for Logan to help bring the rings down the isle at the wedding.
