Nashville is full of wonderful restaurants, attractions, bars, and breweries. For a general guide to Nashville’s top attractions, you can click here. If you're looking for a local's guide, I have put together a list of some of our favorites around the city!

The Fifth + Broadway complex, which just opened this spring, has more than 30 restaurants and shops in the heart of Downtown. It is attached to the Renaissance hotel, providing easy access to guests staying there. In Fifth + Broadway, you will find some of our favorite restaurants, including Hattie B’s Hot Chicken, Slim & Huskey’s pizzeria, Desano’s pizzeria, and The Pharmacy Burger. If you want to venture outside of downtown, these restaurants have other locations around the city and are all great options! TIP: If you decide to order Hattie B’s from one of their original locations, order ahead online and skip the line.

We are suckers for a good rooftop bar and there plenty downtown. Our favorite is the Bobby Hotel Rooftop Lounge, which is just a block from the Downtown Courtyard Marriott. Our other favorite downtown spots are: the Capitol and Capitol grounds, the Frist Art Museum, Puckett's Grocery & Restaurant, Frothy Monkey, HQ Beercade, and Oscar’s Taco Shop.

A bit north of downtown is our old stomping grounds! There you will find Von Elrods, providing great beer and sausages, and get a glimpse of the Nashville Sounds historic stadium at Sulphur Dell. Along the third-base line of the stadium (on 3rd avenue) are a couple other bars worth checking out. On the other side of the ballpark (between 5th and 7th avenues) you will find the Bicentennial Mall, a park with good views of the capitol and loads of Tennessee history. Along one edge of the park is the Nashville Farmers market, which has several restaurants and shops inside. We loved going there for good coffee, gyros, and breakfast burritos!

We also spent many hours at local breweries! Our favorite local beer is Lovebird from Jackelope. They have a great tap room in the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood and always have a fun and wide selection of brews. While in the neighborhood, you could check out Diskin Cider, if a cidery is more up your alley. We also love Tennessee Brew Works, which has great beers and hosted many UNC watch-parties. Lastly, Yazoo Brewing located in the Gulch, just minutes from downtown, has a great Hefeweizen and is a Nashville staple.

While Evan got his PhD at Vanderbilt, we spend many evenings enjoying the Hillsboro Village neighborhood just outside the university. There you will find great shops and restaurants. We first met at Double Dogs, which was our go-to sports bar for years, and enjoyed many coffees at Fido. A bit down the road is Kay Bob’s and Pizza Perfect. You can order from either restaurant while sitting on Kay Bob’s porch - plus, they have great local beers. We lost many trivia games there!

Our first date was at Ugly Mugs in East Nashville. There you will find good coffee and food, as well as ample outdoor seating if it is nice out. Just a couple shops over is Two Ten Jack, which is one of our favorite restaurants!

If you are looking for live music, Broadway is full of it! We always have a blast at ACME, where the wedding reception will be, so you can’t go wrong there! Outside of downtown, we enjoyed many shows at Cannery Row, which has several music venues, and The Basement East (AKA the BEast). The bars on Demonbreun street and Division street are also great alternatives for a night out if Broadway gets too crowded.

If you are ever in search of late-night eats, Dino’s is a must. I almost saw Justin Bieber there once… kinda. Either way, a grilled cheese and PBR at Dino's is a great end to any night out!
