Yes, a passport is required to travel. Check your passport expiration date and ensure it does not expire within 6 months of your travel date. If it does, be sure to re-apply at least 4 months prior to travel to ensure you receive your passport in time.

*UPDATE* ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) was delayed until the end of 2026. No need to worry about this for travel this year.

The closest airport to fly into is Naples International Airport (NAP). The airport is an hour and a half away from Positano. The next major airport is Rome (Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport). The airport is approximately three hours away from Positano.

If you want speed and comfort, a private transfer or taxi is your best bet. You can book with Positano Limo Service or Naples Chauffeur. For a more affordable option, shared shuttles or public transport (Alibus + SITA bus or train + bus) will work well, though they may take longer and require some effort with luggage.
