Our Wedding

K&J's Story

Kristyn and Jose first met through a mutual friend back in 2008 while Jose was working at Sports Authority as the best Bike Tech in Sports Authority history. After a few months and many conversations through AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) they were able to get close and find that they have more in common than they thought. The range goes from 80’s and 90’s music and classics up until their taste in movies and little things here and there. Jose drew the first card in showing that he liked Kristyn and would send her the song “Happy Birthday To You” by the New Kids On The Block every year for her birthday to remind her that he is thinking of her. They remained good friends for the better part of 13 years. They would have periods where they don’t speak, but somehow their love for one another kept bringing them closer and closer to something that would be beautiful and 13 years in the making. Finally, Cupid’s arrow struck at the perfect time. In 2020, they finally were able to both be in the right place and time and Jose officially named Kristyn as his girlfriend and had no intention on letting her slip away. As the craziness of 2020 happened, this actually brought them even closer than expected. Since becoming an official couple, there have been on numerous adventures, cruises, countless Disney trips and sporting events. Let’s not forget that Kristyn took Jose to his first set of concerts in his life. (All just so happened to be Bad Bunny). With their shared interest in hobbies and love for Lucas and each other’s family, they look forward to building a loving home and happily ever after with one another. The bride and groom would like to thank you for making this day possible with all the love and memories that you all will bring. Thank you for sharing this moment with us. We love you all.

Rab has known the groom since one of the greatest years in South Florida sports history, 1997. Been great friends ever since. Stands at a whopping 5’10 (or a Miami 6’3”). Like the groom, they both share the same passion for the Miami Marlins, Dolphins and Florida Panthers.

Maribay and Kristyn first met at Saint Timothy Summer Camp and quickly became the best of friends, even though Maribay was a grade "below" Kristyn—nothing ever stood in their way. Over the years, they've shared countless adventures, from playing volleyball, to trips to Puerto Rico, quinceañera cruises, clubbing days, and unforgettable memories in New Orleans—all of which are filled with inside jokes and laughter.

The Herrera family became a huge part of Kristyn's life, practically becoming her second family. She feels incredibly blessed to have them in her life. Maribay is not only a wonderful mother and wife, but also an amazing designer with incredible talent. With just a needle and some fabric, she creates pure magic. Kristyn may not have told her this, but she looks up to Maribay in so many ways.

Kristyn is truly grateful to have Maribay by her side on her special day. Thank you for being part of this momentous occasion.

Mark has known the groom since their days at Paul Bell middle school, but became close friends in 10th grade at Braddock Senior High. At one point, Mark was a direct supervisor to the groom at their time with Sports Authority. Helped train him to be one of the greatest Bike Tech’s in Sports Authority history.

Alex and Kristyn first met in freshman year at Saint Brendan High School. They had a few classes together and shared mutual friends, but it wasn’t until the end of sophomore year that they formed a bond that not many girls have. Alex and Kristyn spent countless hours shopping, eating pizza, watching TV, and just enjoying each other's company. Of course, they also had their fun "going out" days—what girl doesn't?

Alex has always been a hard worker, radiating positivity, and Kristyn admires that quality in her. Their friendship has stood the test of time—they've been close for 20 years and have gone through so much together. Kristyn was a bridesmaid at Alex’s wedding, and since then, Alex has been blessed with two beautiful daughters, whom Kristyn loves dearly.

Though distance has sometimes come between them, it’s never affected their friendship. Whether it's sending a cute Starbucks cup that reminded them of each other or sharing a coffee, they’ve always supported each other. This is what true girl power is all about. Alex works tirelessly at Vital Spine Institute, always making sure the bride gets her adjustments. Kristyn is so grateful to have Alex here today to celebrate this special occasion.

William first met the groom in 2012, when he managed him at AT&T. Over time, they realized they shared a love for the Marlins, Dolphins, Heat, and sports in general. Their shared interests brought them closer, and they quickly became good friends. Willie has always been a great friend to the groom.

With the help of Willie and the bride, they managed to update the groom's wardrobe, finally getting him out of his 2005-style clothing!

Tatiana and Kristyn officially met at Saint Brendan around 2006, but it wasn’t until later in life that they truly became "besties." They had a class together at Miami Dade, and from that moment on, a beautiful friendship blossomed. One day, Tati took Kristyn to the golf range to hit some balls, and from that day forward, their bond was sealed—it was destiny.

Tati and her husband Carlos (who is also the officiant) helped Kristyn move from Fort Lauderdale to Sunrise, a gesture Kristyn is still incredibly grateful for. Even though Tati eventually moved up north, it didn’t change a thing—they remained the best of friends. Tati and Carlos even built bikes for the bride and groom, a gift they’ll forever cherish. Kristyn was honored to be Tati’s Maid of Honor at her beautiful wedding, and she proudly became a tia to their wonderful dog, Chance.

Tatiana and Carlos are expecting a beautiful baby boy in September 2024, and the bride and groom are beyond excited to meet their new nephew. Tati has always been there for Kristyn, whether it was through work struggles, random traffic drama, or teaching Kristyn how to truly ride a bike. She keeps the bride active, which, as you all know, is no easy feat!

Kristyn thanks Tati for always being so kind, loving, and supportive. There aren’t many people Kristyn can snuggle with and watch 90 Day Fiancé, but Tati is definitely the exception. The bride is truly grateful to have you here on this special day. Thank you, Tati!

Fellow baseball fan of the groom although he is a fan of the wrong team, no one is perfect. Has been good friends of the groom since 2013 from his days at AT&T. Kelvin is a fun personality that keeps the groom young with his “hip” vibe and up to date with the latest trends like “Vine”, “the dab” and the “running man”.

Tiffany and Kristyn first crossed paths many years ago at Saint Timothy Catholic School and later attended Saint Brendan High School together. However, they didn’t truly become best friends until later in life when Tiffany randomly offered to help Kristyn with couponing. They quickly bonded over their love for a good deal, reggaeton, and, of course, Tiffany is the reason Kristyn became such a fan of Bad Bunny. From that moment on, their friendship flourished.

Tiffany has taken Kristyn to some of the most unexpected concerts, but they always end up having the best time because they truly get each other’s anxious energy. Tiffany is a devoted mom to two beautiful teenage girls and a precious 1-year-old baby boy. She is an amazing wife, mom, and friend. Tiffany will always be there for you, even if it's just to tell you, “exactly,” when you’re acting a little crazy.

She’s incredibly smart and can literally do anything she sets her mind to. Tiffany is a force, excelling at everything she applies herself to. Kristyn is so grateful to have her here all the way from North Carolina to celebrate this special occasion in her life. Thank you, Tiffany!

Michael Acosta has been one of Kristyn’s best friends since they were 15, running around Sarasota and causing their fair share of chaos. Their friendship began on one of Mike’s many family vacations, which Kristyn’s family was also invited to. They hit it off so well that they begged Kristyn to stay for the rest of the week—and it worked! From then on, they bonded over musicals, movies, acting, and so much more.

Their friendship has been filled with countless Disney trips (where they definitely found ways to work the FastPass system), graduations, and life-changing moments. Through it all, they’ve always been there for each other. During the pandemic, they came together and found a great apartment in "Sunset Gardens," becoming the best of roommates. Not many friendships survive living together—especially for two years—but for them, it only made their bond stronger.

During that time, Mike earned his doctorate in Psychology, and Kristyn was there through the highs and lows. She’s incredibly proud of him and admires his passion for his career. Kristyn chose Mike for the role of Flower Guy because he’s the only person who could create an entrance grand enough for such a theatrical, animated bride.

The bride and groom are so grateful to Mike for taking on this special role. Thank you, Mike!

This one took a while because Carlos holds a special place in the hearts of the bride and groom. He’s been an incredible friend, a constant support system, and a true cheerleader for both Jose and Kristyn. They honestly can’t imagine their lives without him. Carlos is married to Kristyn’s dear friend, Tatiana Barreto. Together, they have a beautiful home in Ocala, a wonderful baby boy named Thomas, and a dog named Chance.

The bride and groom always look forward to visiting Carlos and Tati up north, enjoying hikes, springs, and escape rooms together. Carlos has been a blessing they never knew they needed. He’s always rooting for his friends to succeed and be the best versions of themselves. If you need support or a man who hustles hard by your side, Carlos is the guy.

He’s truly inspiring—Carlos is a top realtor for a prestigious real estate firm, a certified EMT, and a handyman! There’s literally nothing he can’t do. He’s always working hard, and the bride and groom admire his dedication. They couldn't have asked for a better officiant. They thank you for taking on this very important role.
