He's from Iowa, she's from Minnesota, but you met in LA and are moving to Kentucky? How did you guys meet? This is a question we get a lot when we tell people we are engaged.
From Kristyna: Kyle and I met at Biola University in Los Angeles in 2014. I started going to Redeemer Church and Kyle was part of the life group I joined. From there, we became good friends watching movies and playing board games with the group. At the time, I was in a long distance relationship with someone in Minnesota. That relationship didn't pan out, but Kyle and I remained good friends even after I graduated and moved back to Minnesota. He visited friends and family every year in Iowa and we would often find a way to hang out during that time. In 2021, Kyle visited me and we decided to start dating! I wish I could say the rest is history, but long distance is hard on the soul. I broke with him out of my own insecurity, but he kept coming back and made sure we stayed in each other's lives. When my dad got diagnosed with ALS, the majority of the family decided to move down to Kentucky for warmer winters and to be closer to my dad's family. The move and the diagnosis was hard to swallow, so then in October 2022 I tried breaking up with Kyle for the second time. I figured there was a small chance he would have lived with me in Minnesota since he has friends and family nearby, but Kentucky? No way. I figured we better call it off for good so I could focus on family and be present instead of wishing he was here. Fast forward, Kyle and I talk about all this, and he decides to at least come visit Kentucky and see if it's somewhere he could live. In February 2023, he came to visit and met all the family while we were able to talk about what life would look like together and pray a lot about the future. In March, he proposed and I said yes :) I can't wait to have him move in with me and there are many days I can't believe he would do that for me. I'm looking forward to building a life together and having many many game/movie nights in our future :)
