Krystal and Joseph first met on October 29, 2022, at the GWUH Emergency Department where Joseph and Krystal were travel nurses. Krystal oriented to blue zone that day and quickly noticed Joseph, often calling him over for “assistance” with the monitor, charting, or getting to know the department. Joseph and Koko, as she is affectionately known, had a shared passion for not only caring for others and emergency medicine, but skiing and adventure as well. In January Joseph planned a ski trip for the department taking Koko and Anthony along. That evening they decided to extend the ski trip from Whitetail to Liberty where the two got to know each other better, no not quite in that way, as Joe gained Koko’s respects by being a true gentleman. From there a beautiful friendship was born. As Joseph’s career took him to the OR fellowship, Krystal left for a contract to Tennesse. A year later they found themselves single and a mutual friend nudged them to get to know each other a little better. Maybe their friend saw it before they did, just as the emergency department did, but Joseph and Krystal truly made sense. As many friends have stated “there is a spark between these two rarely encountered and it is truly easy to see” just as they like to add, a match made by God’s hands. As Joseph and Krystal began talking, Krystal decided to take a contract back at the GWUH ER. On Koko’s first day Joseph surprised her with flowers n coffee. Every day thereafter Joseph would take some time from the OR to bring Koko a heartfelt smile, coffee, breakfast, or her favorite chicken tenders slowly warming her heart. By December Joseph invited Krystal to Europe for his birthday as the ER ran a bet on whether or not the two would be engaged in Paris. Joseph, having never been known to disappoint, fulfilled that dream and wrote on a steamy shower wall in Paris the day after his birthday “will you marry me”. As Krystal turned to ask Joe what he was doing, she saw the words written before her eyes. Of course she asked if he was “for real”, and without question Joe will tell you he could not imagine anything more real than embarking on a lifetime of memories with her. As we celebrate this union we ask that you all please help join us in celebrating their love for one another as well as their love for of you around them. Truly, this marriage between Krystal Johnson and Joseph Jones is forged from a blessing and answered prayers.
