Our Story
How We Met
In the late hours of a friend’s bonfire, at the innocent age of sixteen, Alex summoned the courage to ask for a ride home from Kyla. Teasing her about her Prius sparked laughter, and soon, we discovered shared passions in dogs ("You've never had one???") and magical journeys with Harry Potter ("You've never seen it???"). Little did we know, that playful ride was the start of a lifetime adventure together.
The First Few Years
We supported each other throughout our remaining years at FMHS. Kyla with Theater, Alex with Track, and waking up for school on time.
When it came time to graduate- there was no doubt that this was more than a high school fling. At every opportunity, during her first year in college, Kyla drove home to see Alex finishing off his last year of High School.
Our Life Together Begins
We got our first place together in September of 2020 (couldn’t ever find rent that cheap again) but would move two more times before finding our first home. In seemingly no time at all, we had put together our "family" of pets- Cheddar, Penny, Harley, and Norbert.
We loved going to concerts together, with AJR, Young the Giant and Bryce Vine being some of our favorites.
We also talked our family into playing a number of escape rooms and had frequent date nights playing Unsolved Case Files.
Our First Home
We bought our first house in January of 2023. The roller coaster ride of home ownership had begun. In the first year we had a massive flood and an ensuing six-month renovation that tested our patience but brought us all closer together (literally- two adults and two dogs sharing a couch for six months)
The Big Trip
We went to Iceland and England in November of 2023. We saw stunning parts of the earth and made some of our favorite memories within the span of a few days.
The Proposal
Embraced by the warm hues of a Reykjavik sunset, Alex proposed against the stunning backdrop of the Sólfarið or Sun Voyager sculpture on November 19th, 2023. There couldn't have been a more perfect place- the sculpture, symbolizing light and hope, was exactly what we felt looking into a bright future together.
