Our Wedding

It was a very warm President’s Day February 20th, 2017. Matt had used the day to spend leisurely with his sister and cousin at the the Columbus Tanger Outlets. While his sister and cousin had veered off into another store, Matt had wondered into the Sunglass Hut, not knowing this overpriced brick and mortar store had the finest, latest, and greatest style of them all: his future wife.    An easy conversation was struck up, and with this single spark, history was changed forever. It started with some simple chit-chat, then evolved into more in-depth lifestyle questions. Kyla then explained her workout routine at Orange Theory gym, a gym concept Matt was not familiar with. Matt then asked the question, “Can I come join you for a workout sometime?” “Yes” Kyla promptly answered, both unaware at the time that 4 and a half years later that she would say “yes” to marrying Matt. There were definitely no sunglasses purchased that day from Kyla, but neither of them did not go home empty handed that day. Instead, both had gone home with the future gift of love, friendship, and timeless memories and travel. Oh, and you know Matt got her number that day.    Fast forward to a few weeks, and the sparks begin to ignite. The two of them discussed plans of a date at Condados Tacos in Downtown Columbus. After both agreeing to finally meeting up for their first date, this turned out to be another history-changing moment. A couple hours later, a couple tacos later, and a couple margaritas later, Matt thought “this turned out to be a fantastic night getting to know this woman from Sunglass Hut,” as the date was concluding. But then Kyla told Matt he was cute and all but he was too young for her. She thought to herself Aww such a cute little boy   Matt then walked Kyla to her car (Kyla also thinking how cute he's being a gentleman) and said that it was a great night. Kyla then repeated, “Yes I agree, but we can only be friends - you’re too young for me.” Matt was perplexed by this statement from this beautiful girl. After hearing this, Matt leaned in for a kiss in the back of the Condado’s parking lot, in which he was successful. They both realized at that moment that this small factor will never impede the progress of a beautiful love story.    Flash forward to many dates, travels, laughs, moving in together, learning about each other, and great times, 4 and a half years later, led to a week long trip from San Diego to Napa Valley.    On August 4th, 2021, the two of them were days into this trip, with a new diamond ring was burning a hole into Matt’s carry on. That evening, they were blessed with an astonishing beginning of a clear sunset sky off the coast of Big Sur as they stopped at vista points along the way. Matt then started to get extremely nervous, as he knew this was the night to propose and was not the opportunity to miss.    After overthinking the first attempt, the sun was setting quickly. As they were driving to the next vista point Kyla asked “Babe, why are you driving so fast?,” in the passenger seat, which most likely felt like the passenger seat of a NASCAR race car at the time. “We need to get to the next stop before the sun is gone,” replied Matt, trying to keep his soon-to-be fiancé calm, as they both did not know where the next scenic outlook may be.    One more stop later, Matt knew this was it. Thankfully another couple was there, as we asked them to take a couple photos of us, and they kindly accepted. “Let me go grab a snack from the car,” Matt yelled out, as Kyla was perplexed as much as Matt on the first date night when stating Matt was too young for her. Matt quickly grabbed the ring from the carry on and asked the other couple strangers to take a couple more photos. Although both the other couple and Kyla were very confused why we needed more photos, only Matt knew what would happen after taking a deep breath.    We were very blessed to have those strangers there to willingly take our photos during that moment after Kyla said “yes.” Only because Matt promised they would have the dopest babies. Just Kidding (he did say that though). Kyla with tears in her eyes eagerly said yes and was wondering why she never saw this engagement coming on this amazing trip that either of them would ever forget.    We are simply blessed to have you all in our lives, and we sincerely hope that you say “YES” to joining us in our favorite location together for our matrimony, and be part of our story for the next chapters of our lives to come.
