Like so many modern love stories, Emily and Kyle met by the hands of fate by swiping on Hinge. Emily’s chocolate chip cookie recipe piqued Kyle’s interest and he had to know the secret ingredient she used. They actually matched on her 27th birthday back in 2021!
After chatting for a few weeks, they decided to meet up and have their first date at Tipsy Moose (now their favorite Sunday brunch hangout spot). Plans were made to meet on a Saturday night for drinks. The only problem was that Kyle was in Las Vegas that week for a work conference and ran into travel issues getting home. Unclear how, but someone on his flight ended up getting hit in the head with luggage, causing the flight to get diverted, delayed, and eventually cancelled. He began to panic because he had no way of getting home the Friday night before their first date now. He thought that if he cancelled the date, Emily wouldn’t have given him a second chance (not true!). He did everything in his power to find a flight back home Saturday afternoon, just in time for their first date and the rest is history!
After a wonderful year and a half of love and laughter, Kyle moved into Emily’s house and truly made it a home together. They adopted their adorable tabby cat, August, affectionately called “Bubbie” or “The Boy” between two of them. His real name is both the month is which they met and the name of Emily’s favorite Taylor Swift song. Kyle clearly let her name their brand new kitten!
In March of 2024, Kyle bought a ring and conspired with Emily’s best friend and maid of honor, Kaila to plan the proposal. Kyle would tell Emily he had set up a photo shoot with Kaila to take photos for a Mother’s Day gift. Immediately, Emily knew something was up and Kyle could see she was suspicious. To throw her off the trail, he made chili and told her he had entered a chili contest at the Elk’s, which they would attend after the photo shoot (spoiler: there was no stop at the Elk’s). The morning of the proposal, it was snowing and there was freezing rain but Kyle insisted they still go to the courthouse in Downtown Albany for the photos. There he popped the question and Kaila was able to capture the beautiful moment. Shoutout to Kaila’s fiancé, Dan, for holding the umbrella for her!
Emily and Kyle can’t wait to celebrate their union and love with all of their family and friends! See you all there XOXO
