Michael and Kyle first met nearly ten years ago at the University of Northern Iowa, where Michael played football and was a few years ahead of Kyle. What started as a friendship endured the ups and downs of college life and stayed strong over the years. After Michael graduated, he moved to Colorado for a job, while Kyle stayed in Iowa to finish her degree. Despite the distance, they remained close.

After Kyle graduated, she moved to Des Moines, and the two navigated a year of long-distance. Toward the end of the pandemic, Kyle decided to take a leap and move to Colorado to be with Michael. Together, they began building a life filled with adventure, including buying their first home in 2022. Over the years, they’ve shared countless memories, from traveling to exciting destinations to cheering on the Minnesota Vikings at football games—moments that have made their relationship so special.

On December 23, 2023, Michael proposed during a holiday visit to Kyle’s hometown of Davenport, Iowa. He had been planning the surprise for months with Kyle’s mom. Under the guise of a “family photo shoot,” Michael brought Kyle to a beautifully decorated park near where she grew up. While Kyle was busy texting her family to find out why they were running late, Michael seized the moment to get down on one knee and propose.

After she said yes, they celebrated with a surprise engagement party surrounded by family and friends.

Michael and Kyle are excited to celebrate their wedding on April 26, 2025, in Ankeny, Iowa—a perfect middle ground between Michael’s hometown of Sioux City and Kyle’s hometown of Davenport.
